Michelle Meldrum

Executive Director (Gentoo Operations), Gentoo Group, 

Michelle has worked for what is now Gentoo Group since 1996 and has carried out a number of different roles predominantly within the Social Housing division. 

Now the Executive Director of Operations, Michelle is responsible for the landlord function providing services to customers including housing management, estate services, community safety & safeguarding, community engagement and a range of services to vulnerable people. In addition, Michelle is the Executive lead for Gentoo Homes who develop and build new homes for both rent and sale.

Prior to working for Gentoo, her work experience includes retail, local government and financial services.

Michelle graduated in 1995 from the University of Sunderland’s Business School with a B.A. (Hons) degree in Business Studies. More recently she has enhanced her learning by completing the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 5 Coaching qualification.

Michelle is passionate about housing associations playing a key role in protecting and supporting vulnerable children, young people and adults. She is a member of the Sunderland Safeguarding Children Board and is Chair of the Serious Case Review Strategic Group as part of this.  

In addition, Michelle is the Chair of Sunderland’s Domestic Violence Partnership and is Vice-Chair of The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) Sunderland Business Board.
