Business in the Community Cymru GE Aviation Wales Diversity and Inclusion Award Winner 2019: Legal & General Wales
Legal & General Wales is GE Aviation Wales Diversity and Inclusion Award Winner after claiming the title at The Wales Responsible Business Awards 2019.
Legal & General’s Cardiff Diversity and Inclusion Committee has been instrumental in driving awareness and change within the organisation in Wales.
The committee has brought its national commitment to diversity and inclusion to life locally by listening to its people, understanding their views, taking suggestions and then designing and implementing a compelling diversity and inclusion strategy, specifically to address the areas of interest to the Welsh team.
Members of the L&G Cardiff Diversity and Inclusion Committee live its values. They have based their local inclusion strategy on the suggestions and views of its people, and has accordingly drawn up an action-packed plan staging events and initiatives. Activities included: Black History Month; International Women’s Day; Pride Cymru; The Menopause Exchange, World Mental Health Day and LGBT History Month. Their engagement has informed and actively supported the business, colleagues, friends, family and communities. These events have been held up as examples of best practice in diversity and inclusion across the organisation.

“The D&I Committee has brought a great variety of events to our Cardiff colleagues, all of which have been received really positively and have been beneficial to our business. It’s been great to see all of our divisions based in Cardiff coming together to drive and support diversity and inclusion as one.
The ultimate benefit, which is both a societal and a business one, is that this activity makes L&G Cardiff a better place to work for existing employees and makes us an attractive employer of choice for prospective employees.”
