Sopra Steria is a big business, with 6,000 UK employees delivering transformation programmes for organisations, including the Ministry of Justice, Home Office, and Greater Manchester Police.

It also works with Harrow Council, modernising its ICT function, focusing its efforts to create social value in a project called Connecting Harrow.
The information technology business has committed to deliver more than 200 initiatives in partnership with other organisations, designed to support the community in the London borough. Over half of these are about giving the long-term unemployed, young people and those from the poorest backgrounds support in finding work. Staff volunteers run digital skills surgeries, entrepreneurship and innovation competitions, career workshops, and the business provides apprenticeships and work experience placements.
The initiative has secured jobs for 186 people and boosted the digital skills of 50 people. Meanwhile, career, technology and entrepreneurship learning sessions have been delivered for more than 300 schoolchildren.
So far, 100 volunteers have given 1,400 hours of their time. Harrow Connect has delivered numerous business benefits, including new business wins, stronger customer relationships, positive employee engagement and increased reputation in Harrow.
