Dave Fitzmaurice is a Director at KPMG and co-leads KPMG Law’s Corporate Deals & Structuring Practice in the North West.
Based in Manchester, Dave manages a team of corporate lawyers delivering services to a varied portfolio of clients that range from entrepreneurs and privately owned businesses to large listed multi-nationals.
As an experienced corporate lawyer, Dave has advised clients on mergers and acquisitions (particularly in a private equity context), complex integration and separation projects, international group reorganisations, equity incentive arrangements, and on the implementation of deficit funding structures for corporates seeking to manage their defined benefit pension schemes.
After five years with Pinsent Masons LLP, Dave moved to the nascent KPMG Law business in 2014 to help establish the team in Manchester. Over the past decade Dave has developed extensive experience in delivering legal services to clients as part of a multi-disciplinary service offering, alongside the other advisory service lines within KPMG (tax, finance, accounting advisory, and consulting). KPMG Law has a global footprint with over 3,500 lawyers across nearly 90 jurisdictions and Dave has led numerous cross-border projects and transactions, leveraging that network. The KPMG Law business also benefits from an in house Legal Tech Team which has developed proprietary tech solutions that are deployed by the client delivery teams to improve service quality and efficiency for clients.
In a voluntary capacity, Dave has previously taken up the role of visiting professional fellow at Aston University in respect of their Business Law programme and delivered guest lectures to business studies cohorts at UA92. He is currently chair of the KPMG Law IDE Focus Group with a particular focus on social mobility.
