The plans for a new artificial pitch are progressing but have been slowed down by the archaeological survey. The main dig revealed evidence of an Anglo-Saxon settlement. Investigating this evidence required the archaeologists to remain on site for longer than anticipated. Moreover, the importance of their findings meant they were required to write a detailed report. These issues have led to a delay in starting construction of the new pitch, so the Chairman and Club President in front of the pile of earth scraped off the proposed hockey pitch by the archaeological survey team. Eventually, the new Hockey Centre at Culford will have two artificial hockey pitches, one indoor hockey pitch plus the necessary changing and bar/club house facilities.
