Critical Action and Peterborough and Fenland Mind

Critical Action, along with Keeping HR Simple and Positive Media Consultancy Ltd, helped Peterborough and Fenland Mind improve its project management, HR and communications systems.

We have been so impressed with the help and support we have been receiving from our first application to Peterborough ProHelp, that we thought we'd see if we could try our luck again and have put in another application! We are extremely grateful for all the help we have received from all the ProHelp members.

CEO, Peterborough and Fenland Mind
The company

Critical Action are creative problem solvers, who assist MDs, CIOs and senior staff to deliver goals, grow people, improve capabilities, enable businesses and help control risks. Critical Action do this through helping set and deliver IT strategy, through exploring requirements, making decisions, and defining projects.

The project

Peterborough and Fenland Mind have taken advantage of the advice of several local ProHelp member companies, including Keeping HR Simple Ltd, Critical Action Ltd and Positive Media Consultancy Ltd.  The organisation initially approached ProHelp for some advice on project management and HR systems. Both Critical Action and Keeping HR Simple stepped up to the plate to offer their expertise.

Both companies met with the Mind team to establish exactly what was required and then helped them to develop an appropriate plan of action.

Keith Shering, Managing Director at Critial Action helped Mind define and set up key projects. He did this through sharing experience, and providing analysis and control document templates and guidance. This allowed Mind to identify and prioritise activities for their projects.

Keeping HR Simple undertook a review of Mind’s current HR systems and provided advice and guidance on how these could be improved and helped them to develop new policies and procedures.

Following the help received from Critical Action and Keeping HR Simple, Peterborough and Fenland Mind asked if they could have some additional advice, this time on their marketing and communications planning.

Positive Media Consultancy met with their communications team to review their current literature and also the website content. A further meeting was held to make recommendations and suggestions. The team are now working on those recommendations and it is anticipated that a future meeting will be held to take the next steps.

“Running several big projects at the same time is no mean feat; Mind were facing just this challenge, as well as being affected by a range of external factors that weren’t under their control. It was a pleasure to work with Emily and share some thoughts and documents that could help them prioritise the use of their resources for maximum benefit.” Keith Shering, MD, Critical Action
