BITC believes that resilient communities are made up of collaborative partnerships, which are willing to work together and build on local knowledge resulting in long-term change. Business in the Community (BITC) and Midland Metro Alliance are hosting a virtual Community Conversation. The event will explore how people from all sectors can support the recovery and rebuilding of the Wolverhampton to Wednesbury economy in the West Midlands.

About the webinar
This first Community Conversation session (one of two sessions) will focus on the benefits of improved connectivity in areas of opportunity and major employment sites in and around Birmingham. The session will also explore wider social and environmental issues that the business, community and public sectors can collaboratively address. It will be followed by a second session on 8 July, where Birmingham community organisations have been invited to present a current challenge or idea which will help the area.

During the virtual event, there will be break-out sessions, which are designed to discuss challenges, ideas and solutions as a group. This will provide an opportunity for participants to work as part of a cross-sector team, sharing their knowledge to provide real support to local communities.

Agenda

  • Welcome and overview – BITC
  • Opening speakers – Midland Metro Alliance
  • Working together to ‘Build Back’ – community priorities
  • Cross sector breakout rooms
  • Report back and wrap-up

About Community Conversations
A Community Conversation is a cross-sector virtual networking event exploring collaborative working. It is a forum for community, business and the public sector to share opportunities, discuss priorities and highlight areas of need to build a healthier, sustainable community.

A key outcome from a Community Conversation is a commitment from participants to continue to work together on agreed collaborative actions that can make a real difference in a place. BITC will assess actions, pledges and offers after the event and make plans for further action.

Audience
This event is open to BITC members and non-members and all public, private and voluntary organisations with an interest in the community of Wolverhampton and the Black Country. It is also open to all organisations who work with BITC on Community.
