Wed, 28 April 2021  @  11:00  –  12:30

This webinar will take place in the form of a small group forum, where ideas will be shared and approaches discussed working towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 on Climate Action.

About the event
This forum will form part of ‘The Global Goals Practical Knowledge Exchange series’ of webinars. These sessions will create spaces for businesses to learn from one another about how they are taking action on specific Global Goals. This first session will focus on SDG 13, Climate Action. At this forum, businesses will share best practice of action on SDG 13, particularly in setting climate related targets or commitments, and the actions being taken to meet them. Businesses will be able to take inspiration from examples shared to set their own climate commitments, and replicate similar approaches in their own business.

Audience
This event is free of charge to Business in the Community (BITC) members only. It is suitable for CSR/responsible business managers/practitioners, environment managers/practitioners, risk management managers/practitioners.

Background
Progress on the Global Goals has slowed as many businesses have understandably shifted their attention in 2020 to focus on their immediate response to COVID-19. As we move in to 2021, and businesses are once again able to look at the bigger picture, we must now return our attention to the challenges that have developed, been left behind or exacerbated as a result of the pandemic. With attention turning to COP26 hosted by the UK in November 2021, there is now increased momentum in progressing to meet the Paris Agreement. Businesses will play a vital role in supporting international climate goals and will need to demonstrate continued leadership and action to tackle the climate crisis.

The Global Goals Practical Knowledge Exchange series will create spaces for businesses to learn from one another about how they are taking action on specific Global Goals to demystify their use within business.

BITC’s environment and sustainability agenda encourages innovative and transformational change at the core of business. Our programmes focus on building a one-planet economy that delivers lasting prosperity through the UN Global Goals, also known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
