Embed Purpose to Build Back Responsibly will discuss the business case for purpose-driven business, in an interactive session where the content is decided by the live votes of participants.

A purpose-driven organisation stands for, and takes action on, something bigger than its products and services. The topic of purpose has been revisited by leaders throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Many have described how having a clear purpose has helped to guide difficult decisions, to understand the role they could play in supporting society and the approach that they should take to do so. As businesses must make decisions and take action at unprecedented speed and scale, it is clear that business sees the value that purpose offers.

Business in the Community (BITC) are trying something a little different in this webinar. Taking inspiration from the Choose Your Own Adventure books we enjoyed when we were young, attendees will have the opportunity to ‘Shape your own webinar’ through voting during the session on the topics they want to focus on, and on questions to ask our guest speakers.

About the event

Embed Purpose to Build Back Responsibly: Shape Your Webinar will open with the latest business case for purpose-driven business, outlining why BITC believe this is the approach organisations should be using in their business. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote on which areas of embedded purpose they would like the webinar to focus on. Based on the highest votes, we will explore issues in detail, touching on ways that business can take action, and sharing best practice examples.

We will also be joined by a number of guest speakers, who will share experiences of embedding purpose from their different perspectives.
Guest speakers confirmed so far include:

  • Keith Chanter, Group Chief Executive at EMCOR (UK).
  • Charlotte Kirby, Vice President of Global Strategic Relations at Salesforce.

Business in the Community and the Global Goals

BITC is working with business to accelerate the pace and scale of action to deliver against the Global Goals, also known as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

BITC’s Global Goal campaign focuses on cross-cutting levers and accelerators such as purpose, responsible investment and responsible supply chains, that impact on various interconnected issues as defined by the Goals. As outlined in 2016’s Purpose Toolkit: Inspiring businesses to improve society through purpose-driven brands, BITC has always advocated for businesses to embed a purpose-driven approach across their organisations.

Build Back Responsibly

Build Back Responsibly is an ambitious campaign by BITC to radically change the expectations and impact of responsible business. Learn more in our report Time to Fix-Up: Our Big Chance for Business to Build Back Responsibly, which outlines how businesses must harness the innovation brought about by the COVID-19 crisis to tackle the challenges facing society.

This webinar is free of charge to BITC members with a limited number of spaces for non-members. It is designed to benefit people working in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and responsible business managers/practitioners from practitioner to senior leadership level.
