Learn practical ways to work with nature in and around your workplace to build resilience to the extreme weather climate change can bring.

About the webinar
The environmental challenge facing the world has never been greater. Alongside progress towards net zero carbon, businesses need to find more efficient ways to manage and use resources and to build resilience to the extreme weather brought by climate change. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we use our workplaces. As a result we need to build back in a way that increases corporate and individual resilience to future global shocks.

All employers can create workplaces that maximise green space, naturally manage rain and surface water and work with nature. During this webinar we will provide an introduction for businesses on:

  • what nature-based solutions and SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) are and the value they can provide for your business from reduced flood risk and energy savings to enhanced biodiversity and employee and community wellbeing.
  • how to introduce nature-based solutions in the environment around your workplace, from small-scale changes to transformational projects.
  • examples and case studies of nature-based solutions installations of different scales.

You may also be interested in Business in the Community’s (BITC) Guide to Greening your Workspace toolkit which introduces some of the ways that businesses can use nature-based solutions to improve their resilience, enhance their environment and improve biodiversity through the installation or enhancement of green and blue spaces in and around their premises.

This webinar is open to both Business in the Community (BITC) members and non-members. It would be suitable for community investment managers/practitioners and environment managers/practitioners.

About BITC’s environment campaign
By 2030 the UK needs to have delivered on its commitment to limit global warming to 1.5°C, something many consider only possible by achieving a net-zero carbon economy. It will be companies that see tackling climate change as part of future-proofing their business that prosper in this changing world.

BITC wants every business to become climate positive. This starts with developing a robust, science-based climate resilience strategy with ambitious net zero carbon targets. We work to inspire and support our members, working with both those who are on the journey and those yet to start. Through guidance, resources and events, we equip businesses to set targets and develop inclusive action plans with employees, suppliers and community stakeholders.  We also campaign for government action to support these actions.
