This Death, Bereavement and Grief peer learning forum will help those attending develop an empathetic, compassionate and inclusive response to colleagues who have lost a loved one. It will also aid businesses to support employees to be open and share how they feel.

This event is only open to Business in the Community (BITC) wellbeing partners.

Most of the UK population will have been touched by death, bereavement and grief during the pandemic. In winter we also expect to see an annual increase in death known as excess winter mortality (due to respiratory, circulatory and dementia).

Yet, in the UK there remains a reluctance to talk about the taboo topic of death, especially in the workplace. And COVID-19 has presented additional challenges to the grieving process, and funeral and burial arrangements for loved ones.

Now is the time for employers to meet the challenge, talk about death in a meaningful way and consider the impact that tens of thousands of deaths linked to COVID-19 will have on the workplace.
