Business in the Community events and COVID-19

In light of the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19, Business in the Community (BITC) is refining its approach to events in the coming weeks. Many events will now be delivered via digital technology. Those events which do not lend themselves to remote delivery will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

BITC’s primary goal is to keep people safe so we have taken this decision based on the latest information available from the UK Government, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Public Health Agencies in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as feedback from many of our members.

Please contact Events@bitc.org.uk for more information.

About this peer learning forum

This Business in the Community (BITC) peer learning forum will discuss how to work with property owners to how to reduce the environmental impact tof a business premises.

Our world economy faces unprecedented environmental challenges: a changing climate, biodiversity breakdown, and resource constraints. Organisations without a clear environmental commitment will not understand or be equipped to manage the risks and the opportunities these challenges present.

How do you fulfil the commitments you make when the premises you operate from are not owned by your organisation? In this situation, some of your environmental impacts are managed or influenced by another organisation?

The aims and objectives of the event
This peer learning forum will bring together BITC Environment partners to discuss how to work with landlords to:

  • engage in zero carbon energy and manage waste removal
  • measure environmental impacts within premises
  • develop future environmental infrastructure.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own experiences and real time questions into the session. We will be joined by a speaker and BITC Environment Adviser Elizabeth Edgington will present best practice and examples.

This event is for BITC environment partners only. It will benefit colleagues working on, or planning to work on, the organisation’s environment programme, including:

  • managers of responsible business, environmental sustainability
  • managers of operations, marketing, finance, facilities, risk/legal, human resources, training, procurement/supply chain management.

About peer learning forums
BITC’s peer learning forums provide a confidential environment to discuss common issues, good practice and solutions. There will be an emphasis on discussion and sharing experiences.

Tea and coffee will be provided.
