Roundtable: Leveraging responsible investment to meet the Global Goals
Wed, 18 November 2020 @ 08:30 – 09:30
With COVID-19 impacting the world over, the 75th United Nations General Assembly Week (UNGA) will be a key moment in the 2020 calendar for the world to focus on social and environmental challenges and accelerate collaborations to meet the Global Goals.
This roundtable is part of a series of virtual events, which Business in the Community (BITC) is running to elevate the conversation and drive action on how business can Build Back Responsibly.
About the event
Hosted by Anne Marie Verstraeten, UK Country Head of BNP Paribas, this virtual roundtable will convene C-Suite investors to discuss responsible investment as a lever to accelerate meeting the Global Goals.
The roundtable discussion will focus on a risk angle, with a special focus on climate risks and the social side of the climate emergency. Through creating a safe space, quite different to the everyday interactions of corporates and investors, we will ensure this session provides outstanding value to those attending.
Attendence at this event is by invitation only.
Over the last decade, responsible investment has become a central topic in the investment world, with more investors asking questions about where the money is going. With media attention on the climate emergency, the plastic waste crisis and of course the COVID-19 pandemic, the appetite for sustainable investment has been growing at an even more rapid pace. A report by Morningstar showed that global sustainable funds recorded $45.6bn (£37bn) of inflows over the first quarter of 2020 as investors flocked to put their money in ESG funds amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Business in the Community’s (BITC) initiative, Building Back Responsibly has been inspired by the innovation and action that business has taken at pace and scale since the crisis hit. This roundtable, in partnership with BNP Paribas, will feed into this wider work. Responsible Investment is a key lever to drive this opportunity to build a better, fairer economy, society and planet in the long-term as we emerge from a world with COVID-19.
