This virtual roundtable is the second in a series of four that will bring together businesses in South West England to explore opportunities for collaborative climate action.

About the roundtable
As we begin our path to recovery from the immense disruption caused by COVID-19 and move towards COP26, we have an unprecedented opportunity to Build Back Responsibly and for business to take climate action that creates positive outcomes for people and nature. We invite you to join Business in the Community’s (BITC) South West Leadership Board for a series of honest and thought-provoking roundtables on the journey towards net zero carbon for organisations and communities in the South West.

In this second roundtable of the series, we will discuss opportunities for greater sustainability in the built environment, with a particular focus on offices and other workplaces across the region.

We will share regional good practice and innovation, including opportunities to mitigate and adapt to climate change, eliminate waste, maximise resource efficiency, and promote biodiversity and wellbeing. We will explore opportunities for collaboration along the value chain, from office design through to operations.

We will also consider the environmental implications of new ways of working and the ‘hybrid office’; and explore opportunities to engage employees at work and at home.

Find out more about BITC’s circular office initiative which brings businesses together to learn, share, and try new ideas to bring the circular economy to life in their offices. It is about changing how we design, use and operate to eliminate waste and create more efficient, resilient spaces. These spaces will contribute to the long term sustainability of businesses and the wider economy and the positive wellbeing of occupants.

Insights from the webinar will inform our South West Business Leaders Climate Change Roundtable taking place in September (details to follow). Learnings and regional examples will also feed into BITC’s Climate Action campaign.
