This virtual roundtable is the first in a series of four bringing together businesses in South West England to explore opportunities for collaborative climate action.

About the roundtable
As we begin our path to recovery from the immense disruption caused by COVID-19 and move towards COP26, we have an unprecedented opportunity to Build Back Responsibly with business taking climate action that creates positive outcomes for people and nature. We invite you to join Business in the Community’s (BITC) South West Leadership Board for a series of honest and thought-provoking roundtables on the journey towards net zero carbon for organisations and communities in south west England.

In this first roundtable, we will discuss how businesses across the region can take steps to accelerate towards net zero carbon through increasing:

  • the scale of ambition in climate action plans, using TCFD thinking to embed risks and opportunities into business as usual.
  • the speed with which they will achieve net zero carbon, aligned with the UN’s Race to Zero where possible.
  • their scope of influence, developing and implementing an inclusive strategy in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Participants will have a chance to share regional innovation and good practice, and to explore opportunities for collaborative business action as we move towards COP26.

Insights from the webinar will inform our South West Business Leaders Climate Change roundtable taking place in September (more details to follow). Learnings and regional examples will also feed into BITC’s Climate Action campaign.
