Join this webinar to learn about responsible investment in workplace real estate and how to take a purpose-driven approach to create greater influence and action across your business, value chain, sector and investment decisions.
About a purpose driven approach
A purpose-driven organisation stands for, and takes action on, something bigger than its products and services. The topic of purpose has been revisited by leaders throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Many have described how having a clear purpose has helped to guide difficult decisions, to understand the role they could play in supporting society and the approach that they should take to do so. As businesses must make decisions and take action at unprecedented speed and scale. It is clear that business sees the value that purpose offers.
Business in the Community (BITC) has called for responsible business to be bigger, bolder and faster – using purpose to drive greater influence and action across business, value chains, sectors and investment decisions. There is also a clear case for real estate investors to play a pivotal role in shaping what the workplaces of the future look like.
About the webinar
During this webinar we will focus on responsible investment in workplaces, looking at the challenges and potential solutions.
Law firm CMS, will share some of the key trends discussed in their recent Real Estate Reset: Offices and purpose beyond the pandemic report, which takes a detailed look at market reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lasting impact it could have on the office asset class and the way in which we will adapt to our new working environment.
The session will then bring together a diverse panel of businesses to discuss how investment can and is already shaping each of these areas.
Speakers will include:
Background
The investment and stewardship of real estate investors will be the driver in many of changes to the future of the workplace. Investors are increasingly looking to deploy capital into energy-efficient, sustainable buildings. While implementing new, often complex, technology requires upfront investments, these are more than offset by higher rental incomes and lower operating costs¹.
Recent research highlights the stark difference in perspectives of the wider sector and investors themselves on the importance of sustainable building, with only 32% of the real estate sector saying it is very important, whereas 77% of institutional investors considered it as very important. Investors additionally see the value of purpose in this space, with 99% of global institutional investors saying they articulate a corporate social purpose and how they believe a company with a social purpose will add 30% to its value².
Audience
This webinar is free of charge to both BITC members and non-members. It is suitable for environment managers/practitioners and real estate investors.
