Business in the Community (BITC’s) Cross Organisational Mentoring Circles (COMC) is a high-impact programme. It brings employees from different organisations together in mentoring circles.

We are delighted to celebrate the closure of the 2020 programme. This brings together our 7th cohort of mentees and mentors. BITC Race Director, Sandra Kerr CBE will host this event. She will share her insights on the importance of mentoring to help unlock talent and support black, Asian and ethnic minority (BAME) employees climb the career ladder. We will also hear about the highlights of the programme, including how our circles moved from face-to-face to virtual mentoring.

This event is open to COMC 7th cohort participants only.

After 25 years of campaigning for race equality in the UK, BITC believes every employer must prioritise action on race.

BAME people value mentors more than other ethnic groups. They are more likely to want a mentor and more likely to value the impact of having one. They also have a greater desire to expand their personal networks.

We need leaders to act as active sponsors, using their influence to mention the names of BAME people when development or progression opportunities are discussed. This is especially the case when there are no people from BAME backgrounds in the room during these conversations.
