Led by Business in the Community’s (BITC) West Midlands Board this roundtable will discuss opportunities for leadership and collaboration towards climate resilience and achieving net zero carbon in the West Midlands.

This is an invitation only event hosted by Lee Mellor, chair of BITC’s West Midlands Board and Vice President Europe, SC Johnson Professional UK, Amanda Mackenzie OBE, chief executive, Business in the Community and Liv Garfield, chief executive officer (CEO) of Severn Trent.

We are calling on the CEOs of major West Midlands businesses to work together and with other stakeholders to identify opportunities to support businesses in the region to move faster in:

  • investing in nature
  • mobilising employees.

About Business in the Community’s Environment Campaign and Challenge 2030
Our environment and sustainability agenda encourages innovative and transformational change at the core of business. Our programmes focus on building a one-planet economy that delivers lasting prosperity through the UN Global Goals, also known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Business in the Community’s (BITC’s) Challenge 2030 campaign aims to accelerate the transformation to a future where the climate crisis is history. It calls for bold leadership from business to help make the climate crisis history.
BITC is calling on business to increase:

  1. The speed with which they will achieve net zero carbon targets aligned to the Paris agreement
  2. The scale of ambition in their climate action plans to rapidly cut carbon and prepare for climate impacts
  3. The scope of their influence by collaborating with employees, suppliers, customers and sectors to unlock barriers to action
