SUMMARY:Unlocking the Opportunities of an Ageing Workforce
DESCRIPTION:Join inspirational age inclusion leaders and age positive peers to build a more inclusive workforce.\n\n\nThis is an in-person event. \nAudience\nAttendance is open to members and non members. \n\n\nAbout the event\nYou’re invited to join Business in the Community (BITC) for an inspiring morning event that will bring HR\, DEI\, L&D and Operations professionals together with the aim of sharing good practice\, making new connections\, and discussing the challenges and opportunities of an ageing workforce. \nGuests will hear from keynote speaker\, Lorna Shah\, Managing Director of Retail Retirement at Legal & General\, who will share the trends and impacts of the ageing population on business and how Legal & General is leading the way and taking action to address this in the workplace. \nAttendees will hear inspiring stories from a range of employers in Wales – including Legal & General and The Gower College Swansea – on how they have created positive and flexible working environments for their employees of all ages\, and why age at work is an important topic for them. We’ll also be joined by information and advice organisation Careers Wales\, who provide impartial and independent careers information and guidance for people of all ages in Wales. \nWe’ll provide an overview on how BITC’s Age at Work Programme across the nations is raising awareness of and supporting employers around this important topic\, and share how BITC Cymru has supported employers to sustain good workplace policies and practices for their older workers\, helping people over 50 to re-enter the workplace and to support them in their career and personal lives. \nThe Age at Work programme helps employers to look beyond age and see the opportunity that lies within recruiting\, retaining and retraining over 50s. The programme is delivered by Business in the Community Cymru in partnership with Age Cymru and supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.  Find out more. \n\n\nBackground\nBy 2030 half of all adults in the UK will be over 50. This means that understanding the challenges and opportunities presented by an ageing workforce will be vital for your business to thrive. \nIn Wales one third of the workforce is already aged 50 and over. As many of us are living for longer\, this means that the majority of us are likely to be working for longer too.
