SUMMARY:Peer Learning Forum: Pay Transparency
DESCRIPTION:This PLF outlines legal duties and best practices on pay transparency under the EU Directive to help reduce Europe’s gender pay gap.\n\n\nThis is an online event taking place on Microsoft Teams \nAudience\nWe are pleased to welcome Business in the Community (BITC) members\, as well as non-members who have an advisory package with us. Hosted by our issue experts\, there are 20 forums a year\, covering a range of responsible business areas and enabling our members to discuss challenges\, solutions and ideas. \nThis event will be of particular interest to HR and EDI professionals. \n\n\nAbout the event\nFrom June 2026\, organisations with employees in an EU member state will need to comply with the EU Pay Transparency Directive\, which requires gender pay gap reporting and other pay transparency measures. \nFind out more about the Directive\, its implications for UK businesses (whether required to comply with the Directive or not) and how you can gain competitive advantage in the recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce through a transparent and equitable approach to compensation. \nOur event speakers include: \n\nDeepinder Lamba\, Deloitte.  Deepinder is a Partner in Deloitte’s Reward practice and leads their Pay Equity & Transparency proposition for Europe. Deepinder is a seasoned Transformation and Change expert with a 27+ year track record of delivering value to clients by leading and executing complex\, large-scale transformation programs. His passion lies in collaborating with organisations to define a compelling vision and purpose for their future\, fostering enthusiasm\, and driving unwavering commitment to achieve their strategic goals.\nMeera Roy-Chowdhury\, Deloitte.  A former BITC inclusion adviser\, Meera has over a decade’s experience helping organisations design fair\, inclusive\, and transparent reward and culture strategies. Currently she is focused on advising companies on the EU Pay Transparency Directive\, turning compliance into an opportunity for stronger equity\, trust\, and engagement. \n\n\n\nBackground\nBITC believes that UK businesses have the power and responsibility to progress gender equality. We advocate pay transparency as part of our eight-step route map to gender equality. However\, Our Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality Insights Report 2025 notes that the gender pay gap remains one of the strongest indicators of structural inequality faced by women in the UK. \n\n\nAbout Business in the Community’s Peer Learning Forums\nBITC’s Peer Learning Forums provide a confidential environment to discuss common issues\, solutions\, and good practice. SUMMARY:Peer Learning Forum: The role of line managers in Wellbeing and Inclusion
DESCRIPTION:Join us to discuss how to enable line managers to support wellbeing\, inclusion and engagement in your organisation.\n\n\nThis is an online event taking place on Microsoft Teams \nAudience\nBusiness in the Community (BITC) members who have advisory in their membership package. Our Peer Learning Forums (PLF) are open to all members who have advisory in their membership package – hosted by our issue experts\, there are 20 forums a year\, covering a range of responsible business areas and enabling our members to discuss challenges\, solutions and ideas. This session in particular is aimed at line managers\, EDI\, HR and Wellbeing professionals who are working to embed effective\, inclusive and compassionate leadership across their organisations. \n\n\nBackground\nIt’s often said that employees join organisations but leave managers. Line managers play a pivotal role in shaping the everyday experiences of their teams – yet their impact on both wellbeing and inclusion is frequently underestimated. \nToday\, line management is sometimes seen as a distraction from the “real job” rather than a core leadership responsibility. This shift has created gaps in capability\, confidence\, and consistency – particularly when it comes to supporting diverse needs and wellbeing. \nManagers are often the first point of contact when employees face challenges\, but they may not always feel prepared to respond – especially when navigating sensitive or complex issues. These can include menopause\, neurodivergence\, mental health concerns\, bullying and harassment\, inappropriate behaviours\, cultural misunderstandings\, or identity-related microaggressions. \nWithout the right support\, managers may feel unsure about how to act\, what to say\, or where to escalate concerns—leading to missed opportunities for early intervention and inclusive leadership. \nBITC’s Workwell Model and Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) highlight the importance of line managers in modelling inclusive behaviours and creating a culture of wellbeing. \nAbout the event\nThis peer learning forum will bring together BITC members to explore how organisations are enabling line managers to lead with empathy\, equity\, and inclusion. We’ll discuss practical strategies\, share lived experiences and identify opportunities to build consistency and confidence in line manager capability across the employee lifecycle. \nSpeakers to include: \n\nHarry Dean\, Head of Learning & Development\, Southern Water\n\n\n\nAbout Business in the Community’s Peer Learning Forums\nBITC’s Peer Learning Forums provide a confidential environment to discuss common issues\, solutions\, and good practice. There will be an emphasis on discussion and sharing experiences. All contributions from businesses will be confidential within the group and won’t be shared externally by BITC. \nBooking and contact details and further information\n\nContact Jessica.hart@bitc.org.uk \, Event Coordinator\, BITC for any further questions.\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community

SUMMARY:Peer Learning Forum: Does positive impact outweigh the negative?
DESCRIPTION:Join us to discuss how companies can strengthen their social impact to maintain trust and resilience as challenges arise.\n\n\nThis is an online event taking place on Microsoft Teams \n \nAudience\nBusiness in the Community (BITC) members who have advisory in their membership package. Our Peer Learning Forums (PLF) are open to all members who have advisory in their membership package – hosted by our issue experts\, there are 20 forums a year\, covering a range of responsible business areas and enabling our members to discuss challenges\, solutions and ideas. \n\n\nAbout the event\nAfter over 40 years of helping businesses understand the positive impact they can create in communities\, BITC is starting to see a change in tide. Businesses are beginning to recognise that in these times of 2 x existential crises of the climate emergency and the AI industrial revolution\, that it’s time to understand if the positive impact of the business for society and the environment outweighs the negative impact. \nWhilst some business models are inherently designed to benefit wider stakeholder groups (social enterprises\, co-ops and mutuals\, employee-owned businesses)\, for others\, ‘purpose’ has long been the measure of whether a business exists for reasons beyond making a few people rich. But ‘measure’ is a strong word. BITC has long believed that a purpose needs to be measurable against KPIs and metrics\, yet few businesses have stepped up to this challenge [Anglian Water Services – Purpose Impact Assessment]. And yes\, it is a big challenge\, so in the shorter term\, we’ve asked companies to understand the long-term\, sustainable social impact of their activities instead of just measuring short-term inputs and outputs only. Yes\, that’s also hard\, but charities and governments have been doing it for over 30 years. \nWe’ve asked businesses to create a long-term\, evidence-based social impact framework to complement their Net Zero framework. BITC members are rising to the challenge(Crown Workspace social impact strategy). \nJoin us at this Peer Learning Forum to discuss with BITC experts and colleagues from BITC member companies how we can understand the long-term social impact that companies are creating\, providing a continued license to operate across a future that is only going to get tougher for employees and consumers. \n\n\n\nAbout Business in the Community’s Peer Learning Forums\nBITC’s Peer Learning Forums provide a confidential environment to discuss common issues\, solutions\, and good practice. SUMMARY:Peer Learning Forum: Climate Related Transition Planning
DESCRIPTION:Join us to explore the implications of climate‑related transition planning.\n\n\nThis is an online event taking place on Microsoft Teams \n \nAudience\nBusiness in the Community (BITC) members who have advisory in their membership package. Our Peer Learning Forums (PLF) are open to all members who have advisory in their membership package – hosted by our issue experts\, there are 20 forums a year\, covering a range of responsible business areas and enabling our members to discuss challenges\, solutions and ideas. \n\n\nAbout the event\nCompanies have been publishing their TCFD reports for a few years which presents a transparent narrative to stakeholders about how comfortable (or not!) a company is with considering and reporting against the risk and strategy required for remaining sustainable as they progress to Net Zero. The government is now thinking further about how to ensure companies understand the depth and scale of the transition required to a Net Zero economy. Not all businesses will continue to exist. The government consultation on the Climate Related Transition Planning is now open and BITC will be responding. \nJoin this peer learning forum with BITC’s Head of Just Transition and Environment Adviser to discuss with members questions including the following: \n\nIf we’re doing TCFD isn’t that enough?\nHow does the proposed Climate Related Transition Planning align with other frameworks that members already align to?\nWhat does increased regulation mean for being a leading responsible business?\nWhere has the ‘Just’ bit of the transition gone?\n\nThis peer learning forum is the second in a two-part series on regulation\, alongside the Strategy & Purpose Peer Learning Forum on the UK Sustainability Reporting Standards\, taking place on the September 11th. \n\n\nAbout Business in the Community’s Peer Learning Forums\nBITC’s Peer Learning Forums provide a confidential environment to discuss common issues\, solutions\, and good practice. There will be an emphasis on discussion and sharing experiences. All contributions from businesses will be confidential within the group and won’t be shared externally by BITC. \n \nBooking and contact details and further information\n\nContact Jessica.hart@bitc.org.uk \, Event Coordinator\, BITC for any further questions.\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community

SUMMARY:Peer Learning Forum: Social Value - Are We There Yet?
DESCRIPTION:Join us to discuss current risks\, opportunities and trends as we continue on a journey to deliver Social Value.\n\n\nThis is an online event that will take place on Microsoft Teams. \nAudience\nBusiness in the Community (BITC) members who have advisory in their membership package. Our Peer Learning Forums (PLF) are now open to all members who have advisory in their membership package – hosted by our issue experts\, there are 20 forums a year\, covering a range of responsible business areas and enabling our members to discuss challenges\, solutions and ideas. \n\n\nAbout the event\nSocial Value has been shaping public procurement since the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012\, evolving through frameworks like the National TOMs (2016)\, created to increase consistency and understanding for Local Authorities\, and the Social Value Model released in 2020. Now\, with the National Procurement Policy Statement (NPPS) 2023 aligning with the Procurement Act 2023\, we ask: Are we there yet? \nWhilst there can be no doubt that getting more for our tax pounds is a win for everyone and Social Value presents a good and useful way\, beyond cost\, of comparing tenders\, challenges remain—fragmented approaches\, inconsistent measurement\, and businesses grappling to evidence social impact through a system that rewards quick wins. But what if\, through consistency and collaboration\, we could drive meaningful change—lifting communities out of poverty while delivering public services that truly work? \nIn this Peer Learning Forum we will explore current risks\, opportunities\, and trends. We will discuss engaging colleagues across the business\, engaging with suppliers and clients through partnership working\, being proactive as well as responsive\, and investing to create change. \n\n\nAbout Business in the Community’s Peer Learning Forums\nBITC’s Peer Learning Forums provide a confidential environment to discuss common issues\, solutions\, and good practice. SUMMARY:Peer Learning Forum: Tackling Social Mobility
DESCRIPTION:Interactive session on sharing some of the approaches that businesses are taking to consider their role in addressing social mobility.\n\n\nThis is an online event. \nThis event is especially suited to managers and practitioners working in Social impact\, social value/community investment\, CSR and responsible business\, Diversity and inclusion\, and Human resources/People Management. \n\n\nBackground\nIn 2022/23\, six million people – or four in 10 of those in poverty – were in very deep poverty\, with an income far below the standard poverty line. More than twice as many (over 12 million people) had experienced very deep poverty in at least one year between 2017/18 and 2020/21.*  \nMeanwhile\, a report by Demos the Co-op revealed ‘that the UK economy is missing out on £19bn in GDP growth every year due to a systemic failure to promote greater social mobility in the workplace’ and businesses investing in ‘strategies that support greater social mobility\, …could equate to a £1.8bn rise in private sector business profits.’ In addition\, BITC’s State of the Nation 2024 report found that attracting and retaining talent is one of the greatest challenges facing 57% of CEOs\, especially in green and digital skills\, but many leaders are innovating new\, socially responsible ways of securing their talent pipeline\, while tackling social mobility and local deprivation. \nSocial mobility is a systemic issue that no one business can tackle alone. \n\n\nAbout the event\nBITC’s approach to social mobility and the support we provide to our members is informed by our organisational Theory of Change and our Social Mobility Framework\, in addition to best practice collated from across our membership. This Peer Learning Forum will share some of the approaches that businesses are taking to consider their role in addressing social mobility\, whilst providing a forum to discuss and explore collaboration opportunities between participants. \nBITC Social Impact Advisory support helps businesses build sustainable and impactful interventions co-designed with their communities\, driving inclusive economic growth. Our Social Impact Advisers support companies to understand leading practice principles of social impact\, co-designing solutions with their communities\, leading to sustainable impact within society and the business. We are working with companies to create truly responsible societies and systemic change. \n\nSpeakers\nWe will be joined by: \n\nMichelle Amileke\, Responsible Business & Sustainability Manager\, Lewis Silkin\nOla Kolade\, Education\, Employment & Skills Director\, Business in the Community\n\n\nBooking and contact details and further information\n\nContact the Events team for any further questions.\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community \n\nReferences \n* (UK Poverty 2025\, JRF (https://www.jrf.org.uk/uk-poverty-2025-the-essential-guide-to-understanding-poverty-in-the-uk#_-poverty-has-deepened).

Our Peer Learning Forums (PLF) are now open to all members who have advisory in their membership package – hosted by our issue experts\, there are 20 forums a year\, covering a range of responsible business areas and enabling our members to discuss challenges\, solutions and ideas. \n\n\nAbout the event\nAlthough 15-20% of employees are likely to be neurodivergent\, only 60% of organisations have included a focus on neuro-inclusion (CIPD\, 2024). Neurodiversity is often spoken about in the context of reasonable adjustments or workplace adaptions; to embed neuro-inclusive practices the whole employee lifecycle must be considered. \nIn this Peer Learning forum\, we will speak to guests about what meaningful actions they have taken to enable neurodivergent colleagues to thrive. We will be looking at translatable strategic action which drives both the inclusion and wellbeing of neurodivergent colleagues. \nIn this Peer Learning Forum you will learn about: \n– The need to take action \n– Why neurodivergence is an intersectional issue \n– What other companies have done to increase neuro-inclusion. \nYou will leave the session with: \n– An understanding of the impact that neurodivergence has on the employee lifecycle \n– Clarity on invaluable interventions which empower neurodivergent colleagues \n– Knowledge of how to implement a person-centred approach. \nGuest Speakers\n\nTeagan Robinson-Bell\, Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Anchor\, will be joining us to share how Anchor is embedding neuro-inclusion and supporting its 11\,000 strong workforce.\nSaaika Mubeen\, EDI Manager\, General Medical Council\nRachel Qazi\, Investigations Assistant\, General Medical Council\n \n\n\n\nBooking\, contact details and further information\n– Contact Jessica Hart\, Event Coordinator\, BITC for any further questions. \n– Full joining instructions will be sent before the event. \nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community
