SUMMARY:Peer Learning Forum: Innovating Responsible Business Models
DESCRIPTION:Join us to find out why businesses should consider transitioning towards a culture of responsible innovation.\n\n\nThis is a virtual event. \nAudience\nOur peer learning forums are open to all members who have advisory in their membership package – hosted by our issue experts\, there are 20 forums a year\, covering a range of responsible business areas and enabling our members to discuss challenges\, solutions and ideas. \n\n\nAims and objectives of the event\nJoin us for this Peer Learning Forum (PLF) for BITC members receiving support on responsible business strategy & purpose. This event will share learnings from our most recent toolkit ‘How to Innovate Responsible Business Models‘\, from the 6 catalysts of responsible business on the subject of innovative business models. It will make the case for why businesses should consider transitioning towards a culture of responsible innovation and more sustainable business models. \nResponsible innovation allows businesses to maintain competitive advantage\, and increase long-term resilience. The British Standards Institution reports benefits such as long-term cost and risk reductions\, improvement of societal trust in the company and maintenance of social license to operate\, as well as greater attractiveness as an employer\, better supply chain relationships and improved capacity for long-term planning and sustainability.* \nIn addition to exploring the benefits of adopting an innovative approach\, we will also be sharing BITC’s Responsible Innovation Framework\, which organisations can use to begin developing a culture of responsible innovation. The framework includes the following principles: \n\nBeing purpose-led\nStakeholder centricity\nRisk mitigation and opportunity spotting\nThrough-life impact\nTransparency\n\nWe will be sharing examples of organisations who have started to transition their business to more sustainable models\, and will be discussing the potential for transformation within the businesses represented at the session.  \n\n\nAbout Business in the Community’s Peer Learning Forums\nBITC’s Peer Learning Forums provide a confidential environment to discuss common issues\, solutions\, and good practice. There will be an emphasis on discussion and sharing experiences. \n\nBooking\, contact details and further information\n\nContact Jessica Hart\, Events Coordinator at BITC\, for any further questions.\n\n\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReferences \n\n\n\n* Responsible Innovation. SUMMARY:Peer Learning Forum: Regulations or Responsible Business
DESCRIPTION:Join us to explore how responsible businesses stay ahead of regulations and thrive with purpose.\n\n\nThis is an online event. \nAudience\nBusiness in the Community (BITC) members who have advisory in their membership package. Our Peer Learning Forums (PLF) are now open to all members who have advisory in their membership package – hosted by our issue experts\, there are 20 forums a year\, covering a range of responsible business areas and enabling our members to discuss challenges\, solutions and ideas. \nAgenda \n10:00- Welcome and Introduction \n10.15- What do we mean by Responsible Business? \n10.25- What part has regulation played in Responsible Business to date? \n10.35- What regulation do we need to consider going forward? \n10.45- Breakout discussions \n11.10- Feedback and Group Discussion \n11.30- Close \n\n\nBackground\nCSR\, Sustainability\, ESG\, Responsible Business – it doesn’t matter what you call it. At BITC we talk about ‘Responsible Business’ because we’re talking about a core business approach\, not an add-on. Businesses with a purpose and a responsible business ethos\, have long considered the changing global context and considered how they can continue to thrive and survive into the future. Taking care of the environment and your community\, has always been a must for business survival\, but responsible businesses have really been investing to ensure success all round. Interface has been working towards net zero since 1994\, the Co-op has been investing in Fair Trade for over 30 years and Mott Macdonald has been employee owned since the 1980s. These are responsible businesses\, and no doubt they were considered mad by many when they began their endeavours. \nRegulation and legislation have always played a role in encouraging businesses to be more responsible. Worker’s rights\, anti-discrimination\, pollution and health & safety have all been legislated for and regulated to ensure better work environments. Net Zero legislation\, gender pay gap reporting – these again forced companies to take strides in addressing serious societal issues. We also now have the TCFD\, CSRD\, ISSB\, SDS…no this isn’t acronym bingo\, it’s a flurry of regulation that requires businesses to think more about the environment and society that they work within. \nAbout the event\nSo\, with regulation and legislation related to responsible business on the rise\, how do businesses respond and make sure that they continue to be ahead of the responsible game\, rather than just compliant? Join us at this peer learning forum for BITC member companies to discuss this and more. \n\n\nBooking and contact details and further information\n\nContact Jessica Hart\, Event Coordinator\, BITC for any further questions.\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community

SUMMARY:Inclusion & Wellbeing Champion Forum: Impacts of AI for disabled employees
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an opportunity to discuss shaping the risks and opportunities for employment of disabled employees presented by AI adoption.\n\n\nThis is an online event. \nAudience\nThis event is open to Inclusion (Gender\, Race and Inclusion) and Wellbeing Champions. \n \n\n\nBackground\n \nBITC found that 90% of organisations are considering the way AI interacts with the equality\, diversity and inclusion agenda. A tailored focus on the impact of AI and disabled employees must be prioritised to reduce the risk of stalling progress on the disability pay and employment gap. \n \n\n\nAbout the Event\nAre you using or considering AI and/or automation technologies in your workplace? Have you considered the impacts of AI on disabled employees? \nJoin BITC and the University of Birmingham to explore the impacts of AI on disabled people in the UK through the AI-EMPOWERED research project with Dr Daniel Wheatley\, Director of the Work Inclusivity Research Centre\, University of Birmingham. \nThis champion forum shares expert-led insight and provides space to contribute to understanding the impacts of AI and automation on disabled employees. Regardless of your organisation’s maturity or current use of AI technologies\, research estimates that globally 92 million jobs will be displaced by 2030. \nDisabled employees already experience disproportionate marginalisation and barriers to accessing good work\, an inequity at risk of rising without responsible AI adoption. \nThis event will: \n– Explore the AI Empowered research project aims \n– Ensure inclusivity remains at the forefront when considering the use of AI \n– Facilitate best practice learning to support disabled people in the AI era \n \nBusiness in the Community’s work on Artificial Intelligence and Wellbeing: \nBusiness in the Community has responded to the rapidly evolving rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) through our Responsible AI labs\, spotlighting critical challenges AI poses if businesses fail to embrace responsible integration. Considering the impact of AI on marginalised groups has remained imperative to this approach\, exploring the Gendered Impacts of Artificial Intelligence and Racial Bias in AI. \nBITC’s Wellbeing campaign and BITC Workwell model positions thriving people at the heart of organisational purpose\, culture and business strategy\, providing a framework for an intersectional\, inclusive and people-first approach. Inclusive AI practice should consider the lived experience of the one in seven workers in Britain with a disability and the broader workforce wellbeing implications of adoption to identify risks and mitigate accordingly. \nFind out more about BITC’s work on wellbeing. \n \n\n\nGuest Speaker\nOur guest speaker is Dr Daniel Wheatley\, Director of the Work Inclusivity Research Centre\, University of Birmingham. \nHe will be discussing the AI EMPOWERED research project\, exploring the impacts of AI on disabled people in the UK. \n \n\n\nBooking and contact details and further information\n\nContact Jade Olivo for any further questions.\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community
