Black\, Asian\, Mixed Race and ethnically diverse staff still experience disparities in recruitment\, retention\, and progression. The Race in the Workplace: The McGregor-Smith Review highlighted the £24bn annual economic boost possible by tackling racial inequalities. Insights from the Race at Work surveys continue to shape our work\, ensuring organisations benefit from the widest possible talent pool and a more inclusive future of work. The insights from our Race at Work surveys led BITC to create the Race at Work Charter\, with 85 founding signatory organisations committed to improving equality of opportunity in the workplace. The charter now has more than 1100 signatories and our Race at Work surveys continue to shape the charter. \nFind out more about BITC’s work on race equality. \n\n\nBooking\, contact details and further information\n\nContact events@bitc.org.uk for more information.\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.

SUMMARY:The King's Seeing is Believing Visit in London - 2 July 2026
DESCRIPTION:This is an in-person event. Attendance by invitation only. \nAudience\n• C-suite/Senior leaders \n\n\nAbout this event\nLed by Andrew Masraf\, Global Senior Partner and Chair of the Board at Pinsent Masons\, The King’s Seeing is Believing visit in London will bring together senior business leaders to explore how businesses can support social mobility and create meaningful employment opportunities for young people. \nThis visit is part of Business in the Community’s The King’s Seeing is Believing programme\, giving participants first-hand insight into how employer engagement and early intervention in schools can prevent young people from becoming NEET (not in education\, employment\, or training). As part of a series focusing on youth employment\, the visit aims to mobilise action across the UK through BITC’s Opening Doors campaign\, which brings organisations together to share learning\, shape inclusive recruitment\, and create opportunities for those furthest from the labour market. \nAcross the UK\, nearly one million young people aged 16–24 are currently NEET. Research shows that four or more meaningful employer interactions can dramatically reduce the risk of unemployment. The barriers these young people face are often not ability or ambition but access: to advice\, role models\, workplaces\, and the confidence that comes from being welcomed through the door. Business involvement matters—not just for young people’s futures\, but for the health of our economy and communities. \nDuring the visit\, participants will hear directly from young people\, educators\, and community partners. The programme will focus on how sustained engagement—from early exposure in schools to mentoring\, internships\, and collaborative programmes—can create clearer and more inclusive pathways into work. \n  \nAbout The King’s Seeing is Believing programme \nThe King’s Seeing is Believing programme was established by the then Prince of Wales in 1990. The programme\, supported by Salesforce and Linklaters LLP\, was born from a simple but powerful belief that the best way to close the gap between the boardroom and the community was to take business leaders out to the communities and\, through the power of experiential learning\, to inspire and challenge participants. The visits are designed to encourage business leaders to think strategically about the implications for their own businesses and the practical actions that can be taken in response\, leading to meaningful and sustained impact for both businesses and communities. To date\, over 25\,000 business leaders have taken part in the Seeing is Believing programme which has led to many initiatives being set up including Career Ready\, Ban the Box and mentoring circles in collaboration with the Department for Work and Pensions \n\n\nBooking and contact details and further information\n\nFor further information\, please reach out to The King’s Seeing is Believing team (SIB@bitc.org.uk)\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community

SUMMARY:The King's Seeing is Believing Visit in London - 23 September 2026
DESCRIPTION:London\, led by Alex Baldock\, Chief Executive Officer\, Currys\n\n\nThis is an in-person event. Attendance by invitation only. \nAudience\n• C-suite/Senior leaders \n\n\nBackground\nAcross the UK\, millions of people still face significant barriers to getting online\, despite digital services becoming essential for everyday life. Recent data shows that 7.9 million people lack basic digital skills\, 3.7 million families fall below the Minimum Digital Living Standard\, and 1.6 million adults do not have access to a digital device such as a smartphone or laptop. These gaps mean that many struggle to complete routine online tasks—from accessing government services to managing healthcare appointments—with 33% of offline adults finding it difficult to use council or government services online. Digital exclusion affects people of all ages and backgrounds\, but older adults\, disabled people\, those with lower incomes\, and people without formal qualifications are disproportionately impacted. \nThe consequences of digital exclusion go far beyond inconvenience; they deepen existing inequalities and make it harder for people to participate fully in modern society. Lack of digital access and skills can limit employment prospects\, increase household costs\, and reduce access to vital support. Research shows that 1.9 million households struggle to afford their mobile data\, leaving many forced to ration connectivity or rely on public spaces to get online. Meanwhile\, those who are online may still feel excluded—around 24% of UK adults describe themselves as digitally excluded in some form\, often due to affordability issues\, a lack of reliable broadband\, or low digital confidence. As more essential services move online\, addressing digital exclusion is critical to ensuring that no one is left behind. \n\n\nAbout this event\nThis event is part of The King’s Seeing is Believing programme. By meeting people directly affected by digital exclusion and hearing from the organisations working to close the gap\, delegates gain a deeper understanding of the issue—one that inspires practical action and stronger\, more inclusive business leadership. \n \n\n\nBooking and contact details and further information\n\nFor further information\, please reach out to The King’s Seeing is Believing team (SIB@bitc.org.uk)\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community
