He understood that the power of the visits was not just in seeing and believing but also in how to turn that experience into ‘doing’. \nOver 25\,000 business leaders have taken part in visits\, each designed to show the unique contribution business can make when working in partnership with others on an issue or in a community. By thinking strategically about the implications for their business\, the visit gives a different understanding of the long-term impact and benefit that can be delivered for both business and communities. \n \nAbout The Prince’s Seeing is Believing Council\nOn behalf of HM The King The Prince’s Seeing is Believing Council is continuing to ensure that the values and the prestige of the programme are maintained and sustained. \nThe Council comprises influential and respected business leaders who have attended and led more than three visits and have been personal advocates for the programme’s power to drive action. \nCouncil members: \n\nChair: John Studzinski CBE\, Founder and Chairman of Genesis Foundation\, Managing Director & Vice Chairman of PIMCO \nAllan Leighton\, Chairman of The Co-operative Group\, Pizza Express\, Element\, Simba and BrewDog \nBob Wigley\, Chairman of UK Finance\, Vesta Global Holdings Ltd\, Vizolution Ltd and Bink Ltd \nCharles Allen\, Lord Allen of Kensington\, Chairman Global Media & Entertainment Limited\nChristine Hodgson CBE\, Chair\, Severn Trent Plc \nLord Mark Price\, Founder of WorkL and former government Minister of Trade \nSir Richard Lambert\, Chair\, Bloomsbury Publishing plc and Bradford Literature Festival \nDame Vivian Hunt\, Chief Innovation Officer\, UnitedHealth Group\nSir William Castell LVO\, FMedSci  \nZahra Bahrololoumi CBE\, Chief Executive Officer\, Salesforce UK & Ireland\n\n\n\nBooking and contact details and further information\n\nFor more information\, please contact the events team at Business in the Community\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community \n\n\nThe ‘Seeing is Believing’ visits are made possible with generous support from Salesforce. \n\n

SUMMARY:Engaging Leaders to Accelerate Responsible Business
DESCRIPTION:Engage in a solution-based discussion surrounding the six catalysts of responsible business enabling you to take action within your organisation now!\n\n\nAbout the event \n\n\nNot enough progress has been made towards achieving the Global Goals\, also known as the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. For these goals to be met\, businesses must play their role. \nBusiness in the Community works to accelerate responsible business action to address these goals. Our research into the most significant barriers and drivers of responsible business action has helped us identify six catalysts of responsible business\, actions that will accelerate\, scale up and perpetuate sustainable\, inclusive and fair corporate strategies. \nDuring this session\, we will focus on how responsible business practitioners can engage leaders on responsible business. The breakout discussions will explore the following: \n• Why leaders are key to delivering responsible business impact. \n• What business leaders can do to achieve responsible business targets. \n• How to engage and mobilise your leaders\, including how to train leaders on responsible business \nRegardless of where your business is on its responsible journey\, this session will help you understand the best techniques to engage your leaders and evoke change within your organisation through connecting with peers\, sharing experiences\, and learning from our specialists at BITC. To get the most out of this session\, we encourage you to come ready to turn that microphone on and engage. \nBooking\, contact details and further information \n\n\n\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\nFor any enquiries\, please contact Jessica Hart\, Events Coordinator\, Business in the Community

SUMMARY:PLF: What does good supplier engagement look like?
DESCRIPTION:Join us at our Peer Learning Forum\, where we will share information about the guidance for setting supplier engagement targets.\n\n\nThis is a virtual event. \nAudience\nAttendance is by invitation only. \n\n\nThe aims and objectives of the event\nJoin us at our Peer Learning Forum (PLF)\, where we will share information about the guidance for setting supplier engagement targets from SBTI\, CDP \, and GHG Protocol and attempt to distil this best practice into a common set of themes. We will also hear from Business in the Community (BITC) members who have started to implement supplier engagement programmes and what they have learnt along the way. \n\n\nFor many companies\, supply chain-related emissions are the largest source of emissions\, and the most challenging to reduce. Supply chain emissions are on average 11.4 times larger than direct emissions from operations and can account for over 90% of a companies carbon footprint. \nHowever\, despite progress in recent years to set net zero targets in line with legally binding commitments from the UK Government and devolved administrations\, most lag behind on the setting of supplier engagement targets to tackle emissions beyond Scopes 1 and 2. \nAccording to Anthesis Group\, over 1200 companies have set Science-Based Targets in the last few years\, yet just over 12% of those have set specific supplier engagement targets. \nSupplier engagement targets offer a tangible way to influence decarbonisation within your supply chain when specific emissions data is hard to obtain. These targets usually focus on engaging a defined set of suppliers to set their own science-based targets on all applicable scopes and categories\, as well as identifying what support\, upskilling and investment might be needed to help smaller suppliers. \n\n\nBooking\, contact details and further information\n\nContact Megan Gillett\, Events Coordinator at BITC for further information.\n\n\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community

SUMMARY:Race at Work Charter Surgery November 2023
DESCRIPTION:Join this event to learn more about the early insights from the recent Race at Work Charter survey.\n\n\nAudience\nThis event is open to members and non-members of Business in the Community (BITC). \n\n\nBackground\nThe monthly Race at Work Charter surgeries are an opportunity for attendees to speak directly with Sandra Kerr\, Race Equality Director\, BITC and ask any questions about the Charter\, the survey\, or race offerings at BITC. \nThese surgeries benefit anyone wishing to sign or build on their commitment to the Race at Work Charter. \n\n\nAbout the webinar\nThis webinar will provide employers with a space to ask questions about the feedback available from the Race at Work Charter 2023 survey and what the commitment to action is that we ask of employers who have signed the Charter. There is also an opportunity to peak into what insights are in the pipeline. \n\n\nAbout the Race at Work Charter\nThe Race at Work Charter is seven calls to action to ensure that ethnically diverse employees are represented at all levels in an organisation. The actions include: \n\nAppoint an Executive Sponsor for race.\nCapture ethnicity data and publicise progress.\nCommit at board level to zero tolerance of harassment and bullying.\nMake clear that supporting equality in the workplace is the responsibility of all leaders and managers.\nTake action that supports Black\, Asian\, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse people’s career progression.\nSupport race inclusion allies in the workplace.\nInclude Black\, Asian\, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse-led enterprise owners in supply chains.\n\nLearn more about BITC’s Race at Work Charter. \n\n\nBusiness in the Community’s work on race equality\nBusiness in the Community (BITC) is working to ensure all employees feel they belong\, have a voice\, are valued and can be their true selves. \nFor over 27 years\, BITC has been campaigning and helping organisations to ensure Black\, Asian\, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse employees are represented at all levels. \nAll organisations want to recruit from the widest talent pool and help successful applicants progress. It is key to future productivity and performance. Black\, Asian\, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse staff still encounter significant disparities in employment and progression*. The government-sponsored Race in the workplace: The McGregor-Smith Review found that greater progress and positive outcomes are needed to ensure all organisations benefit from the wealth of diverse talent and tap into the potential economic boost of £24bn annually by tackling racial disparities in the workplace and labour market The findings led BITC to create the Race at Work Charter\, with 85 founding signatory organisations committed to improving equality of opportunity in the workplace. \nFind out more about BITC’s work on race equality. \n\n\nBooking\, contact details and further information\n\nContact Jessica Hart\, Events Coordinator at BITC for more information.\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\n\n\nReferences\n*Business in the Community (2021) Race at Work 2021 Scorecard Report

This event has been designed to benefit the Heads of Responsible Business. \n\n\n\nThe aims and objectives of the series of events\n\n\n\nThese events are a monthly opportunity to meet peers and learn from each other. \n\n\n\nBITC will convene Heads of Responsible Business\, or those who own and drive responsible business within their organisations\, to accelerate greener and fairer action together. Each month\, we will explore a different emerging trend or challenge facing our member businesses. We will facilitate discussions\, allowing you to meet peers\, navigate your barriers and accelerate responsible business. \n\n\n\nSave the time and date of 10-11:00 on the last Tuesday of every month to join these facilitated discussions. \n\n\n\nAligning Responsible Business with Pensions Investments\n\n\n\nWith companies across the globe increasing their sustainability ambitions\, we know that the pensions industry plays a key role in driving change across these issues. Rising industry and market expectations mean employers and pension scheme trustees are increasingly faced with changing laws and regulatory guidance to reflect a new sustainable agenda. SUMMARY:International Standards: how to respond
DESCRIPTION:This event forms part of a series covering the impact of new international standards. This event will provide a high level overview of the standards on overarching responsible business reporting (environmental\, social and governance). \n\n\n\nJoin the other event in the series\, International Standards – Sustainability reporting\, taking place on October 24. \n\n\n\nThis is an online event. \n\n\n\nAudience\n\n\n\nOpen to BITC members and non-members. This event has been designed to benefit Heads of Responsible Business. We will facilitate discussions allowing you to meet peers\, navigate your barriers and accelerate responsible business. \n\n\n\nSave the time and date\n\n\n\nSave the time and date of 10-11:00 on the last Tuesday of every month\, to join these facilitated discussions. \n\n\n\nDetails of the November Share and Learn session will be published very soon. \n\n\n\nResponding to new international standards\n\n\n\nBusinesses are being subject to increased responsible business regulation\, requiring sophisticated approaches to responsible business activity. The introduction of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) in the European Union\, the global ISSB standard (International Sustainability Standards Board) as well as the Sustainability Disclosure Standards (SDS) in the UK\, creates an imperative for businesses to have an in-depth understanding of their social and environmental impacts and to demonstrate how they are being managed. \n\n\n\nJoin us for this Share & Learn session where we will be discussing the CSRD\, ISSB and SDS (which will adopt ISSB standards) and their implications for businesses’ approach and reporting of responsible business. \n\n\n\nThe session is applicable both for businesses affected by the legislation\, and those unaffected. BITC believes that all businesses should be complying with the standards so they are meeting best practice standards and are in a strong position to respond to future regulatory developments. \n\n\n\nThis event is aimed at responsible business practitioners and leaders alike\, and aims to equip individuals with intel from peers to inform internal stakeholders and prepare the organisation for the forthcoming requirements. We will provide the opportunity for attendees to join breakout rooms to hear from other businesses about how they are responding to the developments. \n\n\n\nQuestions to discuss in breakout rooms include the following: \n\n\n\n\nHow the business currently manages responsible business and what needs to change in order to become compliant?\n\n\n\nWhat departments need to be engaged in order to effectively manage this new approach to responsible business?\n\n\n\nWhat will this mean for responsible business ambitions?\n\n\n\nHow will this effect current approach to responsible business reporting?\n\n\n\n\nFuture Share and Learn Sessions\n\n\n\n\n28 November\n\n\n\n\nBooking and contact details and further information\n\n\n\nFor more information\, please contact Megan Gillett\, Events Coordinator at BITC.
