SUMMARY:The King's Seeing is Believing Visit in London - 2 July 2026
DESCRIPTION:This is an in-person event. Attendance by invitation only. \nAudience\n• C-suite/Senior leaders \n\n\nAbout this event\nLed by Andrew Masraf\, Global Senior Partner and Chair of the Board at Pinsent Masons\, The King’s Seeing is Believing visit in London will bring together senior business leaders to explore how businesses can support social mobility and create meaningful employment opportunities for young people. \nThis visit is part of Business in the Community’s The King’s Seeing is Believing programme\, giving participants first-hand insight into how employer engagement and early intervention in schools can prevent young people from becoming NEET (not in education\, employment\, or training). As part of a series focusing on youth employment\, the visit aims to mobilise action across the UK through BITC’s Opening Doors campaign\, which brings organisations together to share learning\, shape inclusive recruitment\, and create opportunities for those furthest from the labour market. \nAcross the UK\, nearly one million young people aged 16–24 are currently NEET. Research shows that four or more meaningful employer interactions can dramatically reduce the risk of unemployment. The barriers these young people face are often not ability or ambition but access: to advice\, role models\, workplaces\, and the confidence that comes from being welcomed through the door. Business involvement matters—not just for young people’s futures\, but for the health of our economy and communities. \nDuring the visit\, participants will hear directly from young people\, educators\, and community partners. The programme will focus on how sustained engagement—from early exposure in schools to mentoring\, internships\, and collaborative programmes—can create clearer and more inclusive pathways into work. \n  \nAbout The King’s Seeing is Believing programme \nThe King’s Seeing is Believing programme was established by the then Prince of Wales in 1990. The programme\, supported by Salesforce and Linklaters LLP\, was born from a simple but powerful belief that the best way to close the gap between the boardroom and the community was to take business leaders out to the communities and\, through the power of experiential learning\, to inspire and challenge participants. The visits are designed to encourage business leaders to think strategically about the implications for their own businesses and the practical actions that can be taken in response\, leading to meaningful and sustained impact for both businesses and communities. To date\, over 25\,000 business leaders have taken part in the Seeing is Believing programme which has led to many initiatives being set up including Career Ready\, Ban the Box and mentoring circles in collaboration with the Department for Work and Pensions \n\n\nBooking and contact details and further information\n\nFor further information\, please reach out to The King’s Seeing is Believing team (SIB@bitc.org.uk)\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community

SUMMARY:Opening Doors Forum: Putting Skills First in Recruitment
DESCRIPTION:Join our next Opening Doors Forum to share challenges and best practice on opening doors to diverse talent.\n\n\nThis is an online event. \nAudience\nOpen to both members and non-members of Business in the Community (BITC). The event will be designed for HR Managers\, Talent acquisition leads\, EDI and Responsible business leads. \n\n\nBackground\nOpening Doors is BITC’s flagship inclusive recruitment campaign. Free and open to all employers\, the campaign aims to make 2 million jobs more accessible by building a supported network of businesses committed to fair and inclusive hiring. So far\, 160+ employers are making 1.65m jobs more accessible. Join our campaign.  \n\n\nAbout the event\nIf the UK was made up of 100 employers\, 22 would close their doors to disabled people\, 35 would close their doors to school leavers and 55 would close their doors to ex-offenders. For employers\, opening their doors to diverse talent creates social and economic value. BITC’s Opening Doors 2025 Progress report highlights that 72% of signatories are making their workforce more diverse\, 64% are filling hard-to-fill vacancies and 53% are closing skills gaps – demonstrating the impact of employers sharing and learning together to improve outcomes. \nIn 2026\, the Opening Doors Forums focus on each of the ‘Five Keys to Inclusive Recruitment’. Following on from Forums on Keys 1 (Partnerships)\, 2 (Showing your commitment to inclusion)\, and 3 (Comprehensive job descriptions)\, our next forum will be on ‘Focusing on the essential skills needed for the job’ (Key 4). \nKey 4 actions: \n-Ask for skills over experience or qualifications (4a) \n-Ask only for skills really needed for each role (4b) \n-Recognise non-traditional work experience (4c) \n-Consider accepting non-UK qualifications (4d) \n-Ensure each application stage appropriately assesses skills (4e) \nA growing body of research highlights the importance of focusing recruitment on the specific skills needed to do the job\, rather than relying on qualifications or prior roles as proxies. The UK Employer Skills Survey shows that skills‑shortage vacancies continue to be a major challenge for employers\, driven by a mismatch between candidate capabilities and role requirements (UK Department for Education\, Employer Skills Survey 2024: Full UK Research Report\, 2025). \nAt the same time\, evidence from Skills Builder Partnership demonstrates that both essential transferable skills (such as communication and problem solving) and role‑specific technical skills are critical to productivity and economic performance — with low overall skill levels costing the UK economy an estimated £22bn a year (Skills Builder Partnership\, Essential Skills Tracker 2023). By clearly identifying and assessing only the skills genuinely required for a role — whether technical\, professional or transferable — employers can reduce unnecessary barriers\, access a broader and more diverse talent pool\, and better match candidates to roles where they can succeed and progress. \nJoin us for a practical session on how to: \n-Centre job requirements on the core skills and competencies needed. \n-Minimise reliance on formal qualifications or backgrounds. \n-Open opportunities to non-traditional or under-represented candidates through skills-based hiring. \n-Design fair assessment methods that test candidates on relevant abilities and potential. \nWe are delighted to be joined by Amy Mulready\, Group Head of Talent Acquisition & Mobility at Capita\, to share how they focus on the essential skills for their roles to make their recruitment more inclusive. \n\n\nAbout Opening Doors\nOpening Doors is Business in the Community’s (BITC) flagship inclusive recruitment campaign. Open to all employers\, and free to join\, we have an ambition to make 2 million jobs more accessible to diverse talent by supporting employers to make changes to the way they recruit. \nBusiness in the Community has created a simple framework to guide businesses through their inclusive recruitment journey. It identifies 25 actions grouped into the 5 keys to inclusive recruitment. Businesses are asked to identify at least three actions that they will implement during the campaign. \n\n\nBooking and contact details and further information\n\nContact events@bitc.org.uk for any further questions.\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community

SUMMARY:Social Impact Reporting: What’s Next?
DESCRIPTION:Join us to discuss the TISFD framework\, share your views\, and help shape our collective response to the consultation.\n\n\nAbout the event\nThe Taskforce on Inequality and Social-related Financial Disclosures (TISFD) has launched a public consultation on the first draft of its framework\, marking an important step forward in how organisations understand\, manage and report on their social impacts. It signals growing momentum behind the need for clearer\, more consistent approaches to social impact across sustainability and responsible business and represents an ambitious effort to create a globally consistent framework for understanding how organisations impact and depend upon people and society\, and how those relationships create risks and opportunities for long-term value creation. \nBITC is bringing members together to explore the framework and feed into the consultation process. We’ll break down the TISFD framework – what it is\, how it’s structured\, and how it aligns with existing approaches such as TCFD\, TNFD\, CSRD\, followed by facilitated discussion. An opportunity for members to explore the framework\, share reflections\, challenges and opportunities\, and discuss what this could mean in practice. \nYour insights will directly feed into BITC’s consultation response\, helping ensure that business realities are reflected in the final framework. \n \n\n\nBackground to the Event / Campaign Context\nExpectations around social impact disclosure are accelerating\, with growing pressure from investors\, regulators and wider stakeholders. TISFD builds on established climate and nature frameworks to provide a consistent approach to identifying\, managing and disclosing social risks and opportunities. The consultation phase is a critical moment for businesses to engage and influence its direction. This event enables BITC members to feed into a collective response\, ensuring practical insights from business help shape a framework that is both ambitious and workable. \n\n\nAudience\nBITC Member only\, Sustainability\, ESG\, CSR and responsible business leads\, Social impact and social value practitioners\, risk\, compliance and reporting professionals \n \nBooking\, contact details and further information\n\nContact events@bitc.org.uk at BITC for further information.\n\n\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.

SUMMARY:Peer Learning Forum: Neuroinclusion in practice
DESCRIPTION:Join us to discuss practical ways to increase the inclusion of neurodivergent colleagues to reap the business benefits this will bring.\n\n\nThis is an online event taking place on Microsoft Teams \nAudience\nWe particularly welcome attendees with responsibility for health and wellbeing\, human resources and diversity\, equity and inclusion within their organisations. Each attending organisation is limited to two places to maintain the intimacy of the event and maximise opportunities for cross-organisational learning. \n\n\nAbout the event \nAround 15% of the UK population – c10m people – is estimated to be neurodivergent. However\, many neurodivergent people feel unable to share their neurodivergence at work – which means they aren’t able to access the help and support that would allow them to thrive. A 2026 report by The City & Guilds Foundation with Professor Amanda Kirby reports that less than four in ten neurodivergent employees report feeling psychologically safe to disclose\, trusting that adjustments will be implemented consistently\, and believing their organisation understands the impact of their neurodivergence. \nWhat do you know about the experiences of your neurodivergent colleagues at work\, and how they compare to neurotypical people? How can you level up your support to reap the benefits that come from recruiting\, retaining and developing neurodivergent workers? \nJoin this timely online event conducted under the Chatham House Rule to learn and share. \nhttps://academic.oup.com/bmb/article/135/1/108/5913187 \nCity & Guilds Foundation Neurodiversity Index Report 2026 – FlowPaper FlipBook\, p6 \nGuest Speaker\, Lauren Lunnis \nWe are delighted to be joined by our guest speaker Lauren Lunniss\, Health and Wellbeing Manager at BNP Paribas. Don’t miss this chance to hear Lauren talk about BNP Paribas’ award-winning journey towards neuroinclusion – what’s worked\, what she’s learned and what comes next. \nWith 19 years of experience\, Lauren helps organisations create simple\, everyday ways of working that improve communication and help people feel safe to speak up. Lauren leads BNP Paribas’ work on neuroinclusion\, supporting colleagues with different needs and ways of thinking\, while helping leaders take a practical approach to wellbeing. This work was recognised with This Can Happen’s Best Neurodivergent Support Programme award in 2025. \n\n\nAbout Business in the Community’s Peer Learning Forums\nBITC’s Peer Learning Forums provide a confidential environment to discuss common issues\, solutions\, and good practice.
