SUMMARY:Gender Equality in Wales
DESCRIPTION:Join us to discuss and promote gender equality in Wales.\n\n\nThis is an in person event. \nAudience\nThis event is open to both members and non members of Business in the Community (BITC) and has been designed for: \n• HR/People/Talent management practitioners/managers \n• Heads of HR/People/Talent management \nIt will be of particular interest to those who have signed up to The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality. \n\n\nBackground\nThe Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality is the UK’s most highly profiled and well-established listing of employers taking action to create workplaces where everyone\, regardless of gender\, can thrive. \nBITC’s gender campaign exists to accelerate progress towards a truly equal working world and a gender-balanced workforce. While recent years have seen women’s employment in the UK reach record highs\, women’s ability to prosper is undermined by persistent levels of unequal pay and power or discrimination and harassment at work. \nSome groups face bigger hurdles – black women\, for example\, experience a larger pay gap than white women – and while the impact of COVID 19 is still being understood\, emerging data suggests women have borne the brunt of many of the economic measures. Failing to fully embrace the talents women\, over half the population\, have to offer is detrimental to individuals and impacts businesses’ ability to thrive. \nResearch has shown that organisations with more diverse leadership are more profitable. The world bank has estimated that the global economy could grow by $160 trillion if we pay men and women equally and create a more gender-balanced workforce. \n\n\nAbout the event\nJoin us on 2 October to:• Connect with representatives from companies recognised within the Times Top 50 list.• Hear best practice across sector and issue areas.• Share your views on ‘where next’ for this agenda – shaping our new campaign Equal Futures.• Reflect upon\, and share your hard work to date. \n\n\nRefreshments\nLight refreshments will be served. \n\n\nSpeakers\n\nCharlotte Woodworth\, Gender Equality Director\, BITC\nEmma Osborn\, Passenger Strategy Director\, Network Rail\n\nMore to be added soon! \n\n\nBooking\, contact details and further information\n\nContact jonathan.paget@bitc.org.uk BITC for any further questions.\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community
