SUMMARY:Aberdeen Responsible Business Network
DESCRIPTION:Join us to hear the highlights of the latest Race at Work Charter Survey results.\n\n\nThis is an in-person event. \nAudience\nOpen to Business in the Community (BITC) members and non-members. This event has been designed to benefit businesses based or with a presence in Aberdeen. \n\n\nBackground\nThe McGregor-Smith Review found that race equality could boost the UK economy by £24 billion every year. \nOur BITC Race at Work Charter (RAW) recommends seven calls to action to help employers improve race equality\, inclusion\, and diversity in the workplace. \nThe RAW Charter is a strategic framework for employers to properly implement Race Inclusion. \nThe seven commitments of the Charter include: \n\nAppoint an Executive Sponsor for race\nCapture ethnicity data and publicise progress\nCommit at board level to zero tolerance or harassment and bullying\nMake clear that supporting equality in the workplace is the responsibility of all leaders and managers\nTake action that supports ethnic minority career progression\nSupport race inclusion allies in the workplace\nInclude Black\, Asian\, Mixed Race\, and other ethnically diverse-led enterprise owners in supply chains\n\nIt has been three years since George Floyd was killed after being arrested in Minneapolis. In the same year\, a woman in Cardiff was awarded £400k by an employment tribunal for having experienced race discrimination. Sadly\, these are not unique cases.  \n\n\nAbout the event\nTo have a meaningful conversation about the importance of implementing a robust Diversity and Inclusion Strategy\, we invite organisations to join us for this interactive session focused on the survey findings\, what is going well\, and what challenges lie ahead to implement all seven Race at Work Charter commitments.  \nThrough this event\, attendees will have the opportunity to; \n\nLearn about the highlights of the survey results\nDiscuss ways to implement best a robust Diversity and Inclusion Strategy for business success.\n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\nSandra Kerr CBE\, BITC Race Equality Director\n\n\n\nRefreshment type\nLight refreshments will be served at the event. \n\n\nBooking\, contact details and further information\n\nFor more information\, please contact Megan Gillett\, Events Coordinator at BITC.\n\n\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community

SUMMARY:PLF: International standards - responding through your business strategy
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to engage leaders within your organisation to take formal accountability and champion responsible business targets and ambitions.\n\n\nThis is a virtual event. \nAudience\nAttendance is by invitation only. This event is for BITC members with advisory days in strategy & purpose\, and has been designed to benefit responsible business practitioners. \n\n\nAims and objectives of the event\nJoin us for this Peer Learning Forum (PLF) to learn more about the main standards affecting UK businesses and their management of social and environmental impacts. This session will look in particular at the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) from the European Union and the global ISSB standard (International Sustainability Standards Board) as well as the Sustainability Disclosure Standards (SDS). This session will follow on from October’s Share and Learn Session on the standards and will explore in greater detail the implications for responsible business strategy and reporting. \nLearn about how to take an integrated and strategic approach to aligning with the standards in order to get ahead of regulation and be a leading responsible business. This event is aimed at practitioners holding responsibility for the organisation’s responsible business strategy and we suggest all organisations consider the implications of the standards whether or not they are affected by current regulation. \nAfter learning about the standards and their impact on strategy and reporting\, we will be sharing top-line advice on how to take an integrated approach to ensure the organisation is well-positioned to comply with the standards. This will include the following: \n\nConducting ‘double materiality’ assessments and embedding this in your strategy and approach to reporting\nAssigning responsibilities\, particularly at director-level\nEstablishing impact targets and KPIs to monitor progress\nUnderstanding different approaches to reporting and the key elements to include.\n\nThere will be an opportunity for businesses to share their wins and challenges within each of these aspects as we go into breakout rooms\, with the view of supporting practitioners in exerting influence and making the necessary changes within their organisations. \nThis event forms part of a series covering the impact of new international standards. This event will focus on the implications of the standards on overarching responsible business strategy & purpose. \n\n\nAbout Business in the Community’s Peer Learning Forums\nBITC’s Peer Learning Forums provide a confidential environment to discuss common issues\, solutions\, and good practice. There will be an emphasis on discussion and sharing experiences. \n\n\nBooking\, contact details and further information\n\nContact Megan Gillett\, Events Coordinator at BITC\, for any further questions.\n\n\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community
