SUMMARY:Business in the Community Share and Learn
DESCRIPTION:Aligning Responsible Business with Pensions Investments\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nThis is a virtual event. \n\n\n\nAudience\n\n\n\nOpen to Business in the Community (BITC) members and non-members. This event has been designed to benefit the Heads of Responsible Business. \n\n\n\nThe aims and objectives of the series of events\n\n\n\nThese events are a monthly opportunity to meet peers and learn from each other. \n\n\n\nBITC will convene Heads of Responsible Business\, or those who own and drive responsible business within their organisations\, to accelerate greener and fairer action together. Each month\, we will explore a different emerging trend or challenge facing our member businesses. We will facilitate discussions\, allowing you to meet peers\, navigate your barriers and accelerate responsible business. \n\n\n\nSave the time and date of 10-11:00 on the last Tuesday of every month to join these facilitated discussions. \n\n\n\nAligning Responsible Business with Pensions Investments\n\n\n\nWith companies across the globe increasing their sustainability ambitions\, we know that the pensions industry plays a key role in driving change across these issues. Rising industry and market expectations mean employers and pension scheme trustees are increasingly faced with changing laws and regulatory guidance to reflect a new sustainable agenda. Aligning the values and sustainability ambitions of the employer with that of their pension schemes is crucial. \n\n\n\nAt this month’s Share & Learn session\, we will be joined by Cadi Thomas\, Head of Sustainable Investment and Mark Irish\, Deputy Head of Sustainable Investment Consulting at Isio\, who will guide our discussion on how responsible business practitioners can engage with those in their organisations responsible for the governance of pensions. We will also be joined by Tim Doubleday\, CFO\, Burger King UK\, who will share how Burger King engaged with trustees and created ESG default options\, all whilst managing the risks and boosting its brand. \n\n\n\nFor more information before the session\, read our latest report in partnership with Isio\, ‘Aligning Responsible Business Policies with Pensions Investments’ \n\n\n\nBooking\, contact details and further information\n\n\n\n\nFor more information\, please contact Megan Gillett\, Events CoordinatorBITC.\n\n\n\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community

DESCRIPTION:Join this event to learn more about the early insights from the recent Race at Work Charter survey.\n\n\nAudience\nThis event is open to members and non-members of Business in the Community (BITC). \n\n\nBackground\nThe monthly Race at Work Charter surgeries are an opportunity for attendees to speak directly with Sandra Kerr\, Race Equality Director\, BITC and ask any questions about the Charter\, the survey\, or race offerings at BITC. \nThese surgeries benefit anyone wishing to sign or build on their commitment to the Race at Work Charter. \n\n\nAbout the webinar\nThis webinar will provide employers with a space to ask questions about the feedback available from the Race at Work Charter 2023 survey and what the commitment to action is that we ask of employers who have signed the Charter. There is also an opportunity to peak into what insights are in the pipeline. \n\n\nAbout the Race at Work Charter\nThe Race at Work Charter is seven calls to action to ensure that ethnically diverse employees are represented at all levels in an organisation. The actions include: \n\nAppoint an Executive Sponsor for race.\nCapture ethnicity data and publicise progress.\nCommit at board level to zero tolerance of harassment and bullying.\nMake clear that supporting equality in the workplace is the responsibility of all leaders and managers.\nTake action that supports Black\, Asian\, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse people’s career progression.\nSupport race inclusion allies in the workplace.\nInclude Black\, Asian\, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse-led enterprise owners in supply chains.\n\nLearn more about BITC’s Race at Work Charter. \n\n\nBusiness in the Community’s work on race equality\nBusiness in the Community (BITC) is working to ensure all employees feel they belong\, have a voice\, are valued and can be their true selves. \nFor over 27 years\, BITC has been campaigning and helping organisations to ensure Black\, Asian\, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse employees are represented at all levels. \nAll organisations want to recruit from the widest talent pool and help successful applicants progress. It is key to future productivity and performance. Black\, Asian\, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse staff still encounter significant disparities in employment and progression*. The government-sponsored Race in the workplace: The McGregor-Smith Review found that greater progress and positive outcomes are needed to ensure all organisations benefit from the wealth of diverse talent and tap into the potential economic boost of £24bn annually by tackling racial disparities in the workplace and labour market The findings led BITC to create the Race at Work Charter\, with 85 founding signatory organisations committed to improving equality of opportunity in the workplace. \nFind out more about BITC’s work on race equality. \n\n\nBooking\, contact details and further information\n\nContact Jessica Hart\, Events Coordinator at BITC for more information.\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\n\n\nReferences\n*Business in the Community (2021) Race at Work 2021 Scorecard Report
