SUMMARY:Opening Doors Senior Leaders Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:Join us to explore barriers to youth employment and how collaboration can unlock greater business action to open doors for young people.\n\n\nThis is an in-person event and is by invitation only \n\n\nAbout the event\nWith nearly 1 million young people not in work or education\, this breakfast session will provide space for open discussion on how businesses can work collaboratively with Business in the Community to deliver a business response. The UK Government recently announced a further £1 billion investment to tackle youth unemployment\, expanding opportunities through the Youth Guarantee and new apprenticeship initiatives. These plans aim to create 200\,000 jobs and apprenticeship opportunities for young people aged 16–24. But this ambition can only be unlocked through employer action. Young people who are neither earning nor learning often face the greatest barriers to entering work\, yet they represent a huge pool of untapped talent. By convening senior leaders around the table\, the breakfast aims to inspire collective action through BITC’s Opening Doors campaign. \n\n\nBackground\nBITC’s Opening Doors Campaign is an inclusive recruitment campaign with a mission to make work more accessible. Launched in 2022\, the campaign supports a growing network of 160+ employers committed to making their workplaces accessible to untapped talent. In 2025\, BITC supported over 100 employers in embedding responsible business practice into their recruitment process with 72% of respondents citing improvements in their workforce diversity and 64% citing filling hard-to-fill vacancies. BITC’s ambition is to scale this campaign to make 2 million jobs more accessible through 1\,000 employers. \n\n\nRefreshments\nA light breakfast will be served \n\n\nBooking and contact details and further information\n\nContact events@bitc.org.uk with any further questions.\nFull joining instructions will be sent before the event.\n\nFind out how your organisation can become a member of Business in the Community
