SUMMARY:Turning Policies into Lasting Change: Business in Place Transformation
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a timely\, thought-provoking and engaging discussion on one of the defining challenges facing the UK.\n\n\nThis is an in-person event. Please note that the event will take place in the secure zone at the Labour Party Conference and only passholders will be able to gain access to the venue. \n\n\nIn summary\nOur new Prime Minister\, The Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP\, has set out a vision for devolving and reshaping how the UK is governed. This shift comes at a time when the UK continues to grapple with persistent domestic challenges. There is also increasing acknowledgement that these issues cannot be solved through central government alone. \nThe breakfast will feature an opening keynote from the Rt Hon Alan Milburn\, Lead of The Milburn Review: Young People and Work and a live debate on “Who is really responsible for transforming UK’s places?”. It will bring together around 100 senior leaders from the public\, private and third sectors to discuss where responsibility for change truly sits\, and how we turn ambition into action. Drawing on insights from BITC’s place-based partnerships across the UK\, the conversation will explore how government\, business and communities can work together to deliver growth and stronger places. \nWe hope you will be able to join us for what promises to be a timely\, thought-provoking and engaging discussion on one of the defining challenges facing the UK- how we create thriving places\, and who must step up to make it happen. \nDue to high anticipated demand\, please register by Friday 18 September. SUMMARY:Cross Organisational Mentoring Circles 15th Cohort launch
DESCRIPTION:An opening ceremony for participants of the COMC15th Cohort to learn more about the programme and meet their circles.\n\n\nThis is an online event taking place on MS Teams. \n  \nAudience\nOnly for participants in the 15th Cohort of Business in the Community (BITC)’s Cross-Organisational Mentoring Circles\, including organisation D&I contacts\, mentors and mentees. \n\n\nBackground\nBITC’s Cross-Organisational Mentoring Circles (COMC) is a six-month mentoring programme supporting Black\, Asian\, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse employees across public\, private and non-profit organisations. It brings mentees together in small cross-organisational circles to share experiences\, build confidence and develop their careers. \n  \nEach circle includes up to ten mentees and is led by a senior mentor from a participating organisation. Mentors facilitate monthly sessions\, help shape the agenda with the group\, and share insight from their own experience. Participants also benefit from BITC’s wider network of guest mentors\, who deliver practical masterclasses on topics such as networking\, personal branding and public speaking. \n  \nThe programme runs monthly over six months\, with an opening and closing ceremony\, and a masterclass series that is consistently well received by mentees and shaped by their interests and priorities. \n\n\nAbout the event\nThe event runs for 2 hours 30 minutes. The first hour is a webinar introducing the programme\, with alumni sharing their experiences and tips on how to get the most from the programme to support career progression.
