Strategic vision will only become a reality by working together

Blackpool MPs, Gordon Marsden and Paul Maynard, have both today warmly welcomed the new strategic vision for Blackpool.

The vision sets out plans to increase the economy by £1bn, with 10,000 new and safeguarded jobs; create 3,000 quality homes; help Blackpool youngsters prepare for local jobs and improve the perception of Blackpool as a ‘can-do’ place which welcomes visitors and business investment.  It calls on Government to enter into a long-term strategic partnership with the town to address embedded challenges and take advantage of opportunities.

Paul Maynard MP is now a Government Whip, having recently been a Minister in the Department for Transport. He supports the need for collaborative working and is championing the partnership’s ambitions in Government.

Gordon Marsden MP is Shadow Minister for Higher Education, Further Education and Skills. He recognises the need to support and retain Blackpool’s young people, and to boost the entrepreneurialism that has been a characteristic of Blackpool throughout its history.
