BITC at Flood Expo 2017: Highlighting how Responsible Businesses are responding to the UK’s flood risk

The Flood Expo is the largest yearly flood industry exhibition and conference, which gathers the sector’s experts and business leaders from across the UK and overseas. Business in the Community was widely represented at this year’s event which was held at the Excel Centre, London.

As part of the two-day conference, members and supporters of The Prince’s Business Emergency Resilience Group (BERG) actively championed the cause of Responsible Business and the strength to be found in effective collaborations as part of ‘The Responsible Business Collaboration Space’. The interactive display created a networking space with a focus on what is achievable through public-private partnerships and cross-industry collaboration.

BITC wishes to thank those business leaders and experts who continue to drive the progress of the DEFRA Property Flood Resilience Roundtable and who helped highlight the role of BITC as a convenor of business through their keynote talks and involvement in Live Panel sessions across the two days. Particular thanks goes to Graham Brogden of Aviva, chair of the DEFRA Flood Resilience Roundtable and Mary Dhonau OBE, project leader of the Cumbria Resilience Showcase, who each chaired panel sessions and gave keynote talks.

The Responsible Business Collaboration Space was excellently supported by BERGs flood industry members Adler and Allan; as well as Supporters - Flood Assist, Flood Technologies and Aquobex, who all generously offered time, resource and thought leadership. Aquobex contributed its flood resilient kitchen, displaying innovation and part of its pro bono support of the ‘Cumbria Resilience Showcase’.
