Community Resilience UK: Preparing for and recovering from major emergencies

Not-for-profit social enterprise Community Resilience UK have recently been involved in supporting communities hit by flooding as a part of Business in the Community's Business Emergency Recovery Group (BERG).

Community Resilience UK is a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to supporting individuals, public authorities, the voluntary sector and business prepare for and recover from major emergencies.

Their team of experienced emergency planning and response professionals provide BERG with a range of technical planning, training and response services, ensuring that their on-scene response integrates into the broader response provided by the emergency services and local authorities. 

While the levels of damage and disruption from the recent storm over Southern England were thankfully much lower than expected, there have been frequent flooding disasters recently, which Community Resilience UK has helped respond to. 

The communities they have been working to support a number of communities during and after major emergencies include St Asaph, North Wales, Braunton, Devon, Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire and Herne Hill in London. You can see details of all of these on the BERG website.
