Start and B&Q team up on Streetclubs

B&Q’s Streetclub site, designed to put communities back in touch with themselves, is showcased by Be the Start month today.

Watch Business in the Community’s sustainability director Alan Knight talking about StreetClub.

Created by B&Q with the support of Start, to help the DIY chain achieve its aim of supporting the customer at home as well as in store, Streetclub is a free on line local network that lets people communicate with their neighbours.   People can, organise events, share tools, buy and sell or just chat about their local area.

B&Q are keen to be very clear about their involvement in Streetclub, stressing its place as part of their suite of community initiatives such as You Can Do It and Future Homes.  To make it absolutely clear that the service isn’t a selling tool, there’s a guarantee that there’ll be no direct marketing to its users.
