As Chairman of Croydon Health Services NHS Trust since 2013, Mike Bell has helped the hospital and community services Trust shape its plans for the future and, alongside the senior management team, has seen the organisation deliver continued improvements in care and performance.
Croydon is at the forefront of place-based health care integration with a ground-breaking partnership with the local authority and other providers. The executive team are now joint appointments straddling both health care provision and commissioning. Mike has championed ‘placed based care’ to deliver outcome-focused seamless services with a sharp focus on tackling health inequalities.
Mike has more than 20 years of NHS Board level experience including more than a decade on strategic health authority boards including as vice-chair of NHS London. In 2020/21 Mike also served as Chairman of Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospitals and is currently the Chair of the NHS London Chairs and NEDs (non-executive directors) Anchor Network.
Mike is the director of a research and consultancy company, MBARC Ltd, which works with central and local government and the NHS on issues relating to social exclusion, specialising in working with marginalised communities.
