Ready For Work

Ready For Work is a national programme that engages business to support disadvantaged groups, particularly people who have experienced homelessness, into employment.

In 2011-12 we supported 128 people who were homeless or at risk of homelessness into training and work placements through the Ready For Work programme. At the end of the placement, 56 successfully moved into employment, education, volunteering or training.

This year we plan to assist 135 people in Manchester and Liverpool who are homeless or at risk of homelessness into training and work placements. We also aim to increase the overall level of engagement from businesses in the region, with an emphasis on targeting vulnerable young people and hard-to-reach groups.

The impact of Ready for Work

Read about Femi, who secured a job with the help of two days of training through Ready for Work, a voluntary work placement and a range of post-placement support. Two years on, things are going well. She spoke to us about her experiences of Ready for Work. Read more.
