By helping people to improve their lives by moving into employment, Ready for Work creates savings for the taxpayer through reduced costs of homelessness, crime, benefits and healthcare. From one year’s investment, this amounts to over £3.2m of benefit over 5 years.

The research looked at monetised impacts in five core areas: benefits savings, increases in income tax and national insurance contributions, reduced criminal justice costs, savings to the NHS from improved and reduced costs of supported accommodation for homeless people.  The impacts were projected for a five year period to reflect the ongoing positive returns from sustained employment from clients who participated in the programme in one investment year.
