I feel very privileged to have been given the opportunity to support the area that I grew up in during the late 1960's and early 1970's. I feel passionate about this area and the people who live here and I'm determined to make a real difference throughout my secondment and beyond . Having worked for the past 32 years this has been the most inspiring and rewarding role in my career to date.

Business Connector Role Overview

Boscombe in Bournemouth is one of the most deprived in the whole of the South West, with particular challenges in the areas of unemployment, crime, health and housing.

As a result, physical and social regeneration is a key focus in the town. Brie is concentrating her work on establishing connections that lead to improved relationships between the businesses and charity/community organizations - so that both parties benefit. While adding value to the regeneration plans.

Case Study

I am currently working on 10 different projects all under the objectives of the three E's, Education, Employability and Enterprise and time is challenged however enjoying every minute of every day! It's now my job to match up the local community needs to local businesses to find the best fit so both parties mutually benefit.

Business Quote:

Sharing the skills, knowledge and expertise of our people with areas across the UK that need an injection of fresh ideas and impetus is an innovative and exciting step. I know Brie will add great value to the Boscombe area and we'll give her our full support throughout her year in the local community.” Mike Barry, Head of Plan A Strategy for M&S

M&S has great links with BITC, not least having been recently awarded the ‘Company of the Year’ Award, and the company’s sense of Corporate Social Responsibility is one of the reasons I love working for them. Having been given the opportunity to be a pioneer as one of the first Business Connectors seconded from M&S, my aim is to not only play my part in my local community as a Business Connector but also to ensure that M&S continues to be involved in this fantastic and exciting venture.” Brie Logan
