This average sized junior school serves an area of significant deprivation with the proportion of pupils known to be eligible for free school meals above average. The proportion of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities is also above average; their needs include emotional, social and behavioural difficulties, hearing impairment and speech, language and communication needs.
The school would welcome volunteer support in clearing and establishing a ‘Woodland Adventure area’ for pupils. At present the area has become overgrown and unsafe for pupils to access. A team will need to cut back overgrowth and create walkways allowing pupils to access a seating area and pond. Both of these themselves have become hidden amongst the overgrowth!
Some digging may be required to remove plants that have rerouted and spread. The entrance to the Woodland Adventure area also requires tidying up with the school open to creative ideas. Pupil of the school would benefit from a new resource and in turn support them with the curriculum.
This would suit a team of between 10 – 20 employees or two teams of 10. Volunteers would be asked to bring some equipment i.e. cutters.
