There are two parts to the project which will help improve the physical appearance of the site. Volunteers undertaking this project would benefit from gaining an insight to the education sector and some of the challenges facing young people with additional needs.
The charity is based in a portakabin at the end of the main car park. Whilst this was originally designated as a temporary structure the site is a key resource for local families providing a variety of leisure and play activities.
The centre’s staff would welcome help in installing a couple of raised wooden planters to enhance the appearance of the building. These would require filling with compost and plants. Low maintenance, sensual plants would be welcomed.
The adjoining school would welcome support in developing their vegetable garden to allow pupils to learn about healthy eating. The school already has the wood on site but requires manual support in clearing land, installing the beds and filling with soil.
