The research behind the Healthy High Streets programme

The Healthy High Streets programme in is built on three years of research and activity, working closely with major high street retailers, town partnerships and other essential partner organisations to lead the transformation of high streets across the UK.

The 2011 Portas Review provided the opportunity for BITC to test business engagement models in changing high streets. This led to the Future High Streets Research Study by the BITC High Streets Steering Group and a successful year of the High Street Champions pilot.  During this year, seven BITC businesses supported 27 Portas Pilot towns with High Street Champions.
