JT Group Sustainability Report (global) Financial Year 2015

Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT) (TSE: 2914) has published the JT Group Sustainability Report FY2015, outlining its sustainability initiatives and performance for the year ending 31st December, 2015.
Highlights
  • JT has completed a Group-wide global materiality assessment.
  • It has also achieved a commitment to ensure that their sustainability reporting meets the GRI G4 ‘Core’ Guidelines.
  • JT was once again certified as Global Top Employer for its consistent high-quality work environment - one of only eight employers worldwide.
  • 98.4% of its management positions were filled by internal hires.
  • In 2015 JT reduced Scope 1 emissions by 4.5% and Scope 2 by 5.3%, remaining on track to achieving its 20% reduction target for 2020 (baseline FY2009).
  • The company contributed 8,967million Yen to society, representing 1.6% of its profit before income taxes.
  • JTI UK were awarded the CommunityMark for excellence in community investment by Business in the Community. It is one of only 34 current holders.
  • In 2015 the ARISE programme took approximately 26 children out of child labor every day, provided 32,160 people with education about child labor, and gave 1,859 households an improved income.
