Starting Work: What you need to know

This guide helps people from disadvantaged groups who are entering work settle into a job, giving guidance on how to behave in the workplace and answers to common questions.

The guide was developed to help new starters supported into work through our Ready for Work and Get Ready! programmes.  It's designed for workers to go through with their job coaches or support workers, and contains checklists and guides to help fit in at work, plan travel and budgeting, and understand how they're progressing.  It is accompanied by a Job Offer Checklist, designed to help people decide if a job will work out for them.

This publication is accompanied by Starting Work: Guidance for Employers, which outlines best practice principles for carrying out a good induction to work.
