Inclusive Capitalism Initiative

The Inclusive Capitalism Initiative (ICI) is a non-profit organisation that exists to foster and support the adoption of a more Inclusive Capitalism to ensure that everyone – all stakeholders, not just shareholders – derive benefits from business.

The ICI was established in the summer of 2012 as the legacy vehicle of the Task Force for Inclusive Capitalism, which was made up of business leaders and co-chaired by Dominic Barton, Global Managing Director, McKinsey & Company, and Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild, CEO, EL Rothschild.

The Task Force convened to identify solutions to the dislocations caused by developments in Anglo-Saxon capitalism over the last 30 years – developments exacerbated by the financial crisis of 2008. Its findings have led the ICI to focus on three areas.

  • Culture, values and trust: Improving the ethics of the business world.

  • Economic opportunity: Ensuring that the labour force is not left behind by the great period of innovation that is currently occurring.

  • The long-term: Breaking the cycle of short-termism by promoting the kind of business investment that provides sustainable job creation and economic growth.
