We are working in partnership with the National Careers Service to deliver employability support to prisoners across the East Midlands. By giving prisoners the opportunity to train and find work before they are released, we are helping to reduce the likelihood of reoffending - keeping our communities safer.
We are working within four prisons in the East Midlands:
Category B local prison for adult males. It serves the courts of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
HMP North Sea Camp
An open Category D prison for adult males.
Category B prison holding adult male remand/convicted prisoners and un-sentenced young adult prisoners. HMP Lincoln serves the courts of Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Humberside.
Category C male working prison. In May 2016 Ranby was named as one of 6 early adopter sites for autonomy where the Executive Governor is able to make business and financial decisions separately to the wider prison estate.
How can employers get involved?
We are looking for businesses with a presence in the East Midlands to support our efforts to reduce reoffending by getting involved in one of the following ways:
- Join us on a behind-the-gate prison visit
- Encourage your staff to volunteer by giving advice on applying for jobs in your sector
- Offer prisoners work placements on release
- Offer employment training tailored to your organisation/sector
- Be prepared to offer prisoners jobs in your company or within your supply chain
