Give & Gain Day in Wales

Give & Gain Day 2013, the UK’s only national day of employee volunteering, took place on Friday 17th May 2013. Thousands of employees across Wales, the UK, and globally, donated their time to the communities they live or work in by taking part in this day of action.

U.K impact: 12,000 business volunteers, 300 companies; giving over 96,000 hours volunteering, worth over £1.5 million, helping hundreds of thousands of people across UK communities. All on one day.

In Wales: 700 employee volunteers from 31 businesses spent the day volunteering to help their local communities on Give & Gain Day.

Give & Gain Day encourages thousands of people across the globe to spend a working day volunteering for good causes in their local community. Employee volunteers in Wales worked on a variety of activities including transforming community halls, primary school playgrounds and delivering sports days for children.

What is Give & Gain Day?

Give & Gain Day connects skilled professionals with community organisations by matching them with a volunteering project. Business volunteers help with everything from school sports days to employability workshops for the long term unemployed. Give & Gain Day participants in the UK are part of a global movement of thousands of volunteers across 25 countries as diverse as Spain, Iran, Nigeria and Guatemala.

The Day is part of Business in the Community’s year-round campaign to make volunteering fun, accessible and inspirational and encourage all businesses to give their staff the opportunity to volunteer in work time.
