About Kathrina Mannion


Kathrina Mannion is a sustainability leader with more than 20 years’ experience shaping social and environmental strategy across the public and private sectors. At bp, she leads the company’s global approach to social and environmental sustainability, working to embed sustainability considerations into enterprise‑level decision‑making, strategic risk management and business strategy. Over 14 years at bp, she has worked across climate and environmental policy, low-carbon business, and strategic advocacy, playing a central role in establishing bp’s sustainability framework and contributing to the development of its net zero ambitions.

Previously, Kathrina held senior sustainability policy roles in the UK government, including leading work on the development of the Sustainable Development Goals and serving as a UK negotiator on various UN frameworks and policies. She led development of England’s biodiversity strategy in response to the 2010 Aichi targets, and earlier in her career helped establish Scotland’s first biodiversity strategy.Ā  Kathrina also oversaw delivery of the first cross-government natural environment agreement in England and shaped the UK’s inaugural policy on ecosystem services.

She is a Fellow of the Forward Institute, which works to build responsible leadership and holds a BSc in Applied Ecology and an MSc in Sustainable Environmental Management. She also guest lectured for many years on sustainability at the University of Cambridge, UK.

Katharina has served on Business in the Community’s Climate Action Leadership Team board since January 2026.
