Actions for Leaders

Actions for Business Leaders at Business in the Community

Business in the Community (BITC) is where leaders convene to take action on the biggest issues across the United Kingdom. BITC partners closely with CEOs, board members and senior leaders to leverage the power of business leadership to drive positive change and to create real action on the issues that matter most.

Driving responsible leadership forward

When leaders take collective action and create collaborative solutions, only then will we make the greatest impact for those who need it most. Responsible leaders have the power to change lives and transform communities. We are asking all leaders to ‘lift up’ the UK by:

  • 1. Helping every young person and jobseeker feel supported and have clear pathways into work
  • 2. Investing in the skills needed today and for the future, to create workplaces where everyone can grow and reach their potential regardless of background
  • 3. Ensuring every community has a shared sense of pride and hope with the support needed to build a strong collective vision to deliver a fairer greener future.

Explore our Programmes

Business in the Community offers a wide range of programmes, spanning responsible business strategy. We work with communities and business leaders to grow key skillsets and pathways into work for jobseekers and young people, champion programmes that support inclusivity in the workplace and employee wellbeing, and help businesses shape strategy to support a fairer greener future.

Supporting the development of future leaders

Listening to and learning from future leaders is vital for driving collaboration and collective action. Our partnerships with One Young World and the Youth Futures Foundation are two key examples of how we support and engage with young changemakers

Driving impact in communities across the UK

In communities that have long endured hardship, our Pride of Place programme unites communities and business leaders around a vision for a better future, nurturing collaboration to drive action so that millions can thrive in a place they call home.

Leading race equality in the workplace

For 30 years, our Race at Work campaign has tackled racial inequality in the workplace by encouraging employers to take practical steps to ensure inclusive recruitment, progression, and leadership opportunities for ethnically diverse talent.
