About James Gibbons
James Gibbons is Head of Legal & External Affairs, as well as the Data Protection Officer for Capital One (Europe) plc. James qualified as a solicitor at Browne Jacobson LLP In Nottingham in 2010, working closely with a range of large organisations across the country, including insurers and NHS Hospital Trusts. James joined Capital One UK in 2016, and now leads teams across legal, policy, data and community affairs. Alongside these roles, James is the Director-level sponsor of EmpowHer, a Business Resource Group focussed on supporting the progression of women across the business.
James grew up in Derby and Nottingham, and now lives in rural Leicestershire with his wife, young children, dog and chickens. James has a passion for the East Midlands and ensuring that young people across the region have opportunities to thrive, regardless of their background. This has led him to Chair charitable Boards across the region, including Nottingham Music Service, and now to take up the role as Chair of the East Midlands Leadership Board for BiTC. James is excited to play a role in bringing together businesses that are as passionate as he is about securing a bright future for the East Midlands.
James has served on Business in the Community’s East Midlands Leadership board since December 2025.
