Sheffield Pride of Place shares new Prospectus to set out its 10-year vision
Sheffield Pride of Place shares new Prospectus to set out its 10-year vision
Following extensive consultation with communities across the city, Business in the Community’s (BITC) Sheffield Pride of Place Partnership launched its Prospectus on 27 November at the head offices of Henry Boot, located within the Heart of the City development. The Leader of Sheffield City Council was joined by key changemakers from Sheffield’s businesses and voluntary sector to mark a shared commitment to the city’s future.
Leaders from some of Sheffield’s largest employers and most impactful community organisations were joined by the Leader of Sheffield City Council and members of the Sheffield Pride of Place Partnership on 27 November 2025 to celebrate the launch of the Sheffield Pride of Place Prospectus: 2025-2035.[1]
Building on years of engagement and achievement by local businesses working alongside Sheffield’s diverse communities and Sheffield City Council, the Prospectus sets out a vision for the city to 2035.
As well as drawing on the strong track-record of BITC-backed initiatives such as See it Be it[2] and Sheffield Business Together,[3] the Prospectus is firmly shaped by local ambitions developed in Sheffield, with Sheffield, and for Sheffield.
To help ensure its vision is firmly ‘Made in Sheffield’, the structure of the Prospectus aligns principally with the Sheffield City Goals,[4] whilst also acknowledging the importance of the Council’s 10-year Growth Plan[5] and South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority’s Local Growth Plan[6] in unlocking the city’s potential.
Prospering through Partnership: Unlocking Sheffield’s Potential by 2035
Focused on three key themes – accelerating Sheffield’s economic growth, driving greater social mobility for local people, and enabling increasingly resilient infrastructure – the Prospectus advocates for a confident and enterprising Sheffield that plays to its strengths as a cornerstone of advanced manufacturing, a key cultural hotspot, and the UK’s greenest city.[7]
The shared vision of the Sheffield Pride of Place Partnership states how by 2035, Sheffield will be a city where inclusive growth is real for every resident, business, and neighbourhood.
At the launch, this ambition was reinforced by Councillor Tom Hunt, Leader of Sheffield City Council, who called on attendees to ensure that Sheffield’s future growth reaches beyond the city centre to diverse district centres, and those neighbourhoods – such as Attercliffe and Upperthorpe – located near former industrial hubs.
Councillor Hunt also reflected on Sheffield’s rich and diverse industrial heritage, and the many examples of urban development driven by the long-term investments of philanthropists from the city’s past who provided community assets and infrastructure improvement for future generations.
The scale of the opportunity opened to the city by the long-term Pride of Place approach was further endorsed by Karen Mosely, Social Impact and Inclusion Director at HLM Architects, who described the Prospectus as carrying the voice of many, but speaking as one, and encouraged attendees to grasp the opportunity for lasting positive change.
Following the keynote speeches, attendees worked in groups to plan near- and mid-term actions to help translate the partnership’s shared vision into increased tangible action throughout the city.
