Statement from BITC on the Levelling Up White Paper - Business in the Community

Statement from BITC on the Levelling Up White Paper

Business in the Community (BITC), the Prince’s Responsible Business Network, has today responded to the publication of the Levelling Up white paper.

BITC has been calling for the government to involve private sector in the levelling up agenda to ensure that the role of businesses in communities is embedded into new policy decisions.

Amanda Mackenzie OBE, Chief Executive at Business in the Community, said:

“No one government or business can transform a community alone. A collaborative approach between the public, private and voluntary sectors is the only way to guarantee success. Today’s white paper mentions collaboration 43 times which shows there is a strong recognition within government that the levelling up agenda is everyone’s agenda, and we all want it to play our part to make it work.

“Business in the Community has over forty years’ experience in transforming communities, and we’ve learnt more than just a trick or two along the way. Commitment, trust and collaboration with determined action is needed to drive long-lasting change and without a firm understanding of this, the white paper could end up staying as words in a report rather than reality.”
